One of is missing the others point. I will respond to your point and then I will sum up mine. This does not have to turn into anything other than clarity. I did not realize that yiou are comparing who was more intimidating. I am not making that point. I do not think Liston "looks" scary. I know he was in reality. But, in pictures, he looks blank or smiling. Never a sneer, never an evil look in his eye. He just simply looks at the camera.

    1. You are not interested in furthering you understanding about Mike Tyson but you are fully interested in taking his character apart going off only interviews. If that works for you then it is fine for me.

    2. Here is a link of his reply about the Douglas loss. He said

But, that was not good enough for the writter. He basically calls Mike a liar. This is his response.

Where did all that frailty stuff come from? He just admitted that he was not on his game that night, and that Buster showed himself tougher than he. This is the stuff fight fans read and because fighters do not get to have the last word that refrain sticks "Mike was frail". I watched early fights of Mike when guys were coming to take his head off. Mitch Green was not scare and he stood up to Mike.

    3. I will do my research on Liston. The point is if Mike bit his ear on national TV with million, his reputation, the title, his boxing career on the line and he did not care about any of it. If he and Evander were in the street Mike would have killed him. Look at Evander face and Mike's face after the bite.

    4. I would not want to be either. But, I definately would not want to be on the streets of Brownsville in the late 70's alone as a little kid.

Foreman built his persona based on Liston who he studyed. Liston had the mob connections behind him and Tyson was intimidating because of physical presence and lightning speed. Take your pick really, I would choose Liston.

Everyones aura of invincibility fades after they lose. This is not a revelation is it? It did not exactly fade completely away for either of these two men after they lost major fights. They stepped by in the ring continued to beat men up for the sheer joy of it.

They were not bullies. They fought men who were trained fighters. Scary professional fighters were afraid of them. They were monsters. They beat people up in the and out of the ring. They took there beating, and fought on. Bullies usually pack in it once someone shows they are not scared. These men once someone stood up to them...like signing the contract to fight...beat these men senseless.
