I think I understand and I'm quite sure we're not at odds. All I am really saying is that I would encourage any moderation to follow as closely as possible the *bare minimum* that is required, in terms of intervention. I think you all do that anyway, certainly never had any issues myself in terms of heavy handed moderation.

I check in a few times a week and catch up with threads in between meetings, so I'm alive to the possibility I may be missing some decent reasons to make changes, especially from the point of view of moderators.

apparently being “pro-Matchroom” means not bothering to spam the forum with lame puns and twitter criticism of Hearn from randomers dozens of times a day

I'll lock this again for the night, i don't want to come back to 3 pages of posts to work through. Please come back and make your post tomorrow if you have time and wanted to say something.

Tomorrow evening the poll will close - after that i'll work up some details as to changes (unless "no" is the vote) and we'll discuss those.

I don't think more, just better or maybe different is more reasonable. We can't start handing out bans just because Matchroom end up in a thread where they aren't in the title. That's just madness.

Also can I ask what the % is in the British of bans given out for amount of reports received?

Superb away from home, 3rd best record.

Absolutely pants at home, 21st best record, only 8 goals (I think) scored at Deepdale for us. Just 3 wins. I am a ST Holder and I missed all 3 victories (work / boycotting), my best home result from 5 draws is a 1-1 with Burnley back in Sept, the other 4 draws were 0-0. #jinx to my friends.

    Today? Brum 0 PNE 2.

    Who's your team?

The answer is always less moderation, less authoritarian oversight, free speech means free speech etc. use the ignore function if you don’t like what someone says, reply to the posts you are engaged by. Respond don’t react. It’s an adult idea, some would prefer to assume the role of child and plead to the parent figure to “make things all ok”.

Interesting the timing of this thread, there’s a new app launched recently which challenges players to pose yes/no questions which fellow players feel engaged by, so they respond yes or no, if they don’t like the question they can ignore it. Then the questions with the least ignores have the widest audience. Simple but genius concept, seems like a true democracy/ free market of thoughts and ideas to me. it’s at poserapp.co.uk anyone else played it yet?

It's not about free speech. It's about posters constantly flooding threads with off topic nonsense.

A really simple thing that should be implemented, and is successfully done so on many other forums, is moderator approval.

New posters have to make 30 posts that are mod approved before they get to post without it.

If you implemented that simple step - you’d do a near enough solve the troll issue in one stroke.

    3 Problems
    1. Do MODs have the time for the extra work? If not extra staff resources needed which costs time and money.
    2. May discourage new members who are not trolls resulting in the forum membership shrinking rapidly over time. (eg Betfair Forum was busier than this but totally dead now.)
    3. Will not stop trolls as they will simply remain sensible until moderation posting threshold over then normal service resumes.

We are all adults on here and can all reign it in a bit when we become aware that others are becoming frequently hacked off with posts intended as good natured banter etc.

Perfect example. A post about Hrgovic was quoted but with Joshua’s name in the reply, It’s almost like some weird obsession where he has to constantly be mentioned. It gets boring.

Unsurprisingly supported by the usual suspects of course.

The way you feel about this is exactly the way many others feel when the forum is dominated by inaccurate pro Joshua greatness when he has long been found out as a non elite fighter.

That is what happens on a forum where people share thoughts and opinions but a few like you get the hump and report people where most either ignore or debate further.

My initial comment about Hrgovic 'Shades of Joshua' is what I saw in his fight with Zhang as his power looks very overrated and stamina very suspect fighting an old man.

If the above comment is not suitable for a boxing forum then it is finished.

The point has already been made in this thread about the repetitiveness and will be reigned in.
