#printDesc{display:none;}Oscar Diaz remained in a coma Wednesday at University Hospital in his native San Antonio.
But Dr. David Jimenez, who performed life-saving surgery that relieved swelling on the boxer's brain a week ago, has said Diaz "should" survive the brain trauma he sustained during a nationally televised, technical knockout defeat to Delvin Rodriguez on July 16. Jimenez also told Wayne's Donna Brooks, whose promotional company represents Diaz, that it could take up to a month for Diaz to come out of his coma.
If the humble, respected Diaz does regain consciousness, the 25-year-old fighter will face more than a grueling rehabilitation process as he attempts to lead a normal life.
His hospital and rehabilitation bills could easily approach seven figures. Mentioning money might sound callous, considering the courageous Diaz nearly died due to injuries incurred in the ring. But the reality of Diaz's sad situation is that the costs of his care will well exceed the $50,000 in insurance funds he is due from a policy promoters are required to take out for fights sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
That's why Diaz's mother, Teresa, has established the Oscar Diaz Donation Fund. Contributions can be sent to account No. 2800610121 at San Antonio National Bank, located at 45 Northeast Loop 410, Suite 500, San Antonio, Texas, 78216. For more information, call 210-408-5751.
Teresa Diaz has been "overwhelmed" thus far by the outpouring of support for her son, whose father, Eugene Diaz, died of cancer in November, three months after suffering a stroke.
Brooks intends to host fund-raising events to help pay Diaz's medical bills as well, starting with one in northern New Jersey. Diaz, a welterweight contender, has trained and/or lived in Totowa, Wayne and West Paterson at times during his seven-year pro career, throughout which he has been managed by Brooks' father, the legendary Lou Duva, and trained by her husband, Tommy Brooks. They consider Diaz family, always have, and they'll help with his health care costs as much as they can.
With medical bills mounting, though, they hope others will want to treat Oscar Diaz like family, too.

Fighters must be insured to fight, and the insurance company should take care of the med bills.
At least thats should be the situation.

However i am sure any money sent will be helpful
God bless Oscar Diaz with full recovery!
