Barring that instance, wasn't Willard more off a generally heavy handed attrition guy? Not sure, since I'm no expert on that era. Unless I'm completely off the mark about Willard's abilities, Ruddock clearly was the better puncher.
People who sit around and talk about some abstract like power are essentially curious to have a ****-measuring contest. Almost every fighter has tremendous power when he knows how to pick and time the right punch AND especially when the opponent is offering the optimal target.
Rid****s Ko blow was that left swing of his. Sort of a combination of left hook and uppercut. Take that punch away and he had nothing. Willard big punch was his right hand either as an uppercut or a straight shot. So Rid**** was the better left hand puncher while Willard had the superior right.
