So you just proved my point that there is nothing in his career that you can point to that would show Liston was not physically durable. I made no mention of his psyche. Him quitting is a lack of character, an emotional issue, or a gambling issue............Not a physical one.

If you put a gun to my head, I would say that Liston had more power in an absolute sense, though I don't need to tell you that Tyson was faster.

If anything I think that Tyson had the better chin, but I could see it being the other way.

Tyson on both ends. Liston was not durable.

Exatcly. Liston did quit against Ali, are we supposed to disguise that and name it something else ?

Liston quit, simply quit, a power puncher like him always had a chance to win, and he said "no more"; you can make a case for him quitting in the rematch as well.

    So ?
What's use is a guy that is strong if he gets punched a few times and already want out ?

Durability is all about character and mental toughness.

Im shocked to say but probably Tyson for both considering the opposition.
I dont think anyone other than ali on Listons resumee would stop any decent version of Tyson. Williams and McBride were huge 265+ guys who used their weight on tyson.

At their greatest both hit extremely hard and both are damn durable.

In recent years Tyson's raw one punch power gets lumped in with his handspeed and combination punching and is solidly undersold. It's crazy. One single left hook ended Williams night. How many clean punches to the head did he need against Spinks? A left hook on top of not much else and Tubbs was gonski. A battered Tyson almost turned around his fight against Douglas with a single punch. There are loads of examples where he has done big damage with one shot.

Don't forget the right against Botha. It's always very hard to separate raw power from speed, timing and accuracy when you have all of them in droves like Tyson did, but he might well have been the most dangerous puncher ever.

For sure Boke. I totally agree about the difficulty separating. No-one during his entire era was able to go toe to toe with him all the way thru Lewis. It was basically 100% necessity you had to tie him up quite a bit and/or find some damn good spoiling tactics as Holyfield did even during his second run. Personally for example i think he would have run clean thru a Joe Frazier as Joe would be right there mixing it up until one was on the canvas. It's all about styles and assets.

Liston was 34, 35 years old vs ALi ,,,,, How old was Tyson before getting rocked ??

The answer just might be Liston for durability and Tyson the edge for power

Not sure? Liston didn't get stopped until 30+ but he quit both times against Ali, tbf another ATG. It can n argued Tyson quit against Holyfield in the rematch which I can't argue against. Both of those r mainly questioning their heart tho. I'm leaning towards Liston being more powerful but Tyson more durable.

Sonny Liston punched harder than Tyson.

Sonny Liston was more physically stronger than Tyson as well

    Tyson had the better chin.

    Stamina was about EQUAL.

Prime vs Prime I have Liston defeating Tyson via TKO

Sonny on both accounts if it’s absolute peak Liston that shows up and everything is on the up and up. But Sonny has a microscopic margin of error here.
