A lot of people seem to think Floyd-Berto will tank, and a lot of people also seem to believe that Golovkin-Lemieux will be a smashing success.

In terms of boxing fans here on this forum, it seems far more are interested in buying Golovkin's fight and not so interested in Floyd. In fact, the discrepancy is quite wide if one is to believe a recent poll I did.

However, the casual fans - ones not posting here - will be the true deciders.

So simple question - Which do you think will do more PPV sales?

My 2 cents - relative to each fight's respective expectations, I think Golovkin's fight will probably exceed its modest expectations, and I think Floyd's fight will fall flat on its face in terms of the numbers he's accustomed to putting up.

But in terms of raw numbers, Floyd's still got the brand, and I think his fight should probably do considerably better.

I still, however, hope that all 3 upcoming PPVs tank and tank miserably.

I thought you of all people would get it when fans say GGG vs Lemiuez would be a success they mean 300 000 would be a success because its relative but if Floyd gets 700 000 buys its not a success for him.

No one screwed on is saying GGG does better ppv buys then mayweather vs berto Floyd himself did 300 buys for his first ppv card

    Do you get it?

This would be equivalent to comparing floyd first ppv fight to one of oscars ppv cards at that time.

You more or less reiterated exactly what I wrote a post above yours, so I think I get it just fine, bucko.

    Worse case for Mayweather 750

    Best case for GGG 500

Seems like a no brainer! Would be great if GGG had about the same number of buys though. Out selling Mayweather would turn the sport upside down.

Of course Floyd vs Berto does better i just can't believe you actually made this thread.

Floyd is a established PPV star and has never done under 800 000 buys for YEARS

GGG is headlining his first ppv no comparison whatsoever

I have to say this rummy this must be one of your worst ever thought out threads.

Golovkin and Lemieux are pretty much unknown to the mainstream. I think anything over 300K is a success for fighters with their level of popularity.

Floyd is a name brand. Floyd is like Oscar Meyer winnies...very popular, huge sales, not much substance. GGG and DL are not as popular, its like that meat market hole in the wall with wonderful cuts...higher quality... Hq entertainment in the ring.

    Why would you say that?

I've created some absolutely terrible threads over the years. Surely some of which were far worse thought out than this.

GGG-Lemieux tickets have been nearly sold out last month - nearly 2 months before the fight. Mayweather-Berto had more than 2000 free tickets a few days ago. Add to that, Mayweather-Berto has a better undercard.

All things seem to suggest Rummy is a subtle GGG hater

    Hogwash.

Look at the results from this poll, and tell me this is not a legitimate topic of forum discussion.

    http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=544645

Or look at the early results in this very poll where more than 1/3 of respondents disagree with the majority view.

How exactly would it be more successful if it did less PPV buys and they're charging $15 less a pop? Ticket sales?
