Not sure what's boring about Dorticos, to be honest.

And after his performance last night, this thread's either a wind up or completely out of order.

Dorticos looked amateurish. He was exposed bad. A gifted 1-2 guy with a punchers chance at the world stage. No plan B at all. He also just stood still completely flatfooted after his 1-2 attempts.

He personified what talent without skills looks like. Dorticos is just: height, reach, speed, power and chin. Nothing more nothing less to his game.

And even if that is all he has (and it isn't) what's monotonous about that?

Wlad at his most boring was pure valium.

But he also had fights where he switched it up and boxed hard. For every Wlad / Povetkin you get Wlad / Wach, Pulev or AJ. He did whatever would be most effective against an opponent, and unfortunately in many cases it was his Dr Octopus routine. But not always.

Well Dorticos naming himself K.O Dr, is essentially telling fighters to knock him out if hes the Doctor ,when he actually should be called Dr. Knock out .

So he is more predictable. :boxing1

While I think that's harsh on Dorticos and takes away from what was a great win for Gassiev, I hear you on the punch selection. Don't think I saw him throw one uppercut which has to be the go to punch when you're struggling to get through your opponents guard.

Don't get me wrong. Roboticos is a great boxer. But he boxes in a system, much like Klitschko did most of his late career.

He is strong, fast and tough enough to get away with 1-2 stand still 1-2 repeat against most opponents. He didn't have to change his game until last night...

Gassiev exposed the robotic system of Dotricos. And it's not safe to say other opponents can take advantage of this blueprint anyway, because you need both talent and skill to beat the low IQ Dotricos 1-2 punch game. Much like smaller heavyweights struggled badly with Lewis and the Klitschko brothers.

While the wording might be harsh, the criticisms of Dorticos' boxing are fair. He's certainly limited. But he's very tough, hits hard and keeps coming. Gassiev was tidy in defense, though, and soon established himself as the much more judicious and accurate puncher. I had him in a big lead after 11.

I really hope this guy is trolling in which case great post but otherwise jeez - look how many key attributes he's applying after the word 'just'.

Klistchko was super talented guy, I hated watching him fight, but after hooking up with Steward, he devised the perfect fight-plan to get him in to his late 30s. People forget how aggressive he was early.

He should have been DQed against Povetkin though.

I never thought I'd see someone get a shellacking for 'just' having speed, power and a great chin let alone coupling that with reach and height. I can only imagine what this guy thinks of someone with a glaring flaw like a Khan or a Paulie.

Actually @SmackDaBum can you tell us what you think about David Price? This should be fun.

He didn't really articulate his criticism very well until later in the thread. I think he was basically saying that Dorticos, for all the apparent attributes he possesses, is quite basic and lacks creativity and adaptability. I'd tend to agree. You still have to be diligent and technically solid to beat him, though.
