I was suprised by the presentation of primetime. Apart from a few technical gaffes I thought it was good. Even got a shout out from Buncey. I know it'll depend on how many buys they got but do you think we'll see more primetime? The fight was no thriller, some casual fans drawn in for the fight may be put off paying again. Something Bunce said about "all being over now" didn't fill me with confidence. He was probally just talking about the night as a whole, hopefully.
I really enjoyed the coverage and the whole team was fantastic. Rosenthal was great with Buncey, Kerr was fantastic backstage, and Rawling (as always) was brilliant and I also thought Thaxton did a good job for his first night in the commentary chair, although he is probably a better pundit, IMO. In one broadcast, Primetime were head-and-shoulders better than the bohemoth that is Sky, IMO. It was great to see fan interaction, a bit of banter and people with opinions during the broadcast as well. I hope we see Primetime again, but I am not too confident that they would have made much of a profit tonight so who knows what will happen:good.
i was disappointed with coverage they promised alot of boxing but quite frankly 2 rounds of random fights dont count IMO They could have showed way more LIVE boxing but never Yuan pablo Hernandez vs Licina had the promises of an interesting clash. Who gives a flying **** about Froch winning the English title also there was so much bias it was unreal and im not sure Jim and Bunce worked well together and them freeview bits were murder i could recite the whole freeview bits to you
i enjoyed the whole night, i think primetime did there homework and got what most fans wanted and that was to have bunce and kerr back. was funny the look on jim rosenthal's face, everytime bunce was talking to him, jim was lookin at bunce as if to say 'who is this obnoxious man?' rosenthal looked like he was being told a bad joke by a drunk all night, haha!
Don't think these programs can win to be honest. You have some fans who want entire undercards. Some who want "HBO 24/7" Style segments on the fighters. Some who want interviews with fighters. Some who want Bunce to read every single E-mail. Some who want Past fights of the boxers shown in entirity... Etc etc etc As well as this, the station has to try and "sell" the PPV to the casual viewer (and the hardened boxing fan), hence the freeview segments, which are irritating, but if they catch a channel hopper or two, they may pull someone in. For what it's worth, I thought it was a decent first attempt - helped by the fact we knew the announcers/presenters, which is a huge bonus. Getting Kerr and Bunce wins automatic Brownie Points. I'm sure if they are any type of station, they will listen to fans on here, e-mails, forums etc, and make the shows varied and better in the future. For the meantime, we should just be happy that we have boxing on tv at all the way things had been going. P.S - Sorry to anyone who had problems with subscribing on TV/Online...I "watched" another way because I did fear for initial toothing problems. We can slag Sky Box Office, but at least we know what we are going to get, and that we will see it I suppose...... Primetime show 6/10.
How can you say Buncey and Jim worked well? It was absolute cringeworthy. Ronsenthal didnt want to be there, he looked uneased by the jovial approach of Bunce and i would be very surprised if we see Jim on Primetime again
Agree on most of that 7/10 from me Whatever they do, some boxing fans will always moan and say 'they should have done x,y or z' I thought it was a good show and they showed plenty of stuff, early Froch fights etc
Techincal issues aside. Really enjoyed the presentation. Considering they filled 6 odd hours i was entertained...Looking forward to the next one :good
I hope you don't take that attitude into the ring......I want to see you winning titles, not turning into Oliver McCall.......
I enjoyed the Primetime broadcast and don't feel short changed at all. I enjoyed the broadcast team and the fights throughout. I think at the start of the show Jim was like WTF! when Bunce started on one of his usual rants but I think by the end of the night he got to realise what Bunce is about and looked alot more relaxed. Dare I say it - they looked like a good combo by the end.
