And it's a weird and self-limiting goal, given the realities of matchmaking in professional boxing. But anyway, yeah, it appears that it's been his mission--at least since 2014 or so, when Andre Ward called Abe Sanchez' bluff and challenged Golovkin to a fight at 168. But so what? Even with that stated goal, there was nothing preventing him from occasionally fighting at least some bigger and better opponents at 168 instead of the parade of undistinguished non-beltholders he fought at middleweight.

To be fair his competition has vastly improved. And predictably his power has looked much less impressive. Hes no Julian Jackson thats for sure

Now you're in the realm of questioning his managements choices.
Which is fine. Personally, I'd love to see him leave the division for good and move up. He beat Canelo imo, and dominated thoroughly, not sure if we need to see him beat Saunders. Although he did make it this far already. And if Lemuix wins, a rematch would be fun.

But yeah I'd also like to see him move up after all the talk about him beating up bigger guys in the ring.

My honest guess is that the risk of moving up doesn't balance with the downside. Getting on top, and staying on top, especially if you're undefeated, increases your stock immensely in the modern boxing climate. It's probably smart financially for him to fight in as small a weight class possible for as long as is reasonable.

I don't want to see that, but it is what it is.
He's probably looking for Mayweather and McGreggor money, not James Toney money.

It's also why if he doesn't move up, he can never be considered one of the greatest of all times outside of MW.

Well I supplied the answer in part. There are dimisnishing returns after a certain point, like my baseball example for producing home run distance & pitching power.
Also you must mean Morrison would be around Rocky's weight-or less for their heights-if both were natural. That may well be true.

But I believe due to steroids Morrison weighed in at over 220.
Some people also have good "receptors" for them.
I am totally against them, but with them, Morrison had crushing left hook power.

    Straight question for you.

Q.If Jacobs and Alvarez as they now are, fought Povetkin next year, what do you think the odds on them surviving 12 rds with him would be?

What does that say about the premise that GGG hit as hard or harder that Povetkin then?

What is that certain point? Why is it there? What is your evidence?

If you say "Uhh science!" then you're going to look like a complete idiot.

You're predicting the outcome of a fight based upon punching power lmao

You probably are rather new to boxing but I'll let you in on some knowledge. There's a lot more to winning a fight than punching power.

Still got the hots for me then? I boxed for near enough 20 years. Joe Louis was the champ when I was born and I've followed the game all my life.As usual you missed the point which is GGG is not comparable to Povetkin as a puncher and it would be long odds that either Alvarez or Jacobs could manage to go the distance with him. I'm predicting that a top ten ranked modern heavyweight good hitter such as Povetkin would be odds on to stop middleweights such as Jacobs and Alvarez.

I've boxed heavyweights ,and light heavies,I know about the difference in power and the difference my own power had at the higher weights, don't condescend to me you haven't the credentials to make it stick Sonny.

You're just a wanabee gym rat, so far out on the periphery you're invisible.
    BTW
This is just about the most gratuitously self admiring quote I 've seen on the forum.

"I'm just a lot tougher than other people. Always have been."

It's so excrutiatingly conceited its hilarious! Got any more gems for us?

No champ, not even a contender, just another faceless pug who enjoyed the game. I was wondering if you are double jointed? Because it must be difficult patting yourself on the back if you aren't . lol

Why shouldn't I say something if it's true?
