Like I said, I called it for Tua, so I can't be too hard on you.

    Here is my concern.

People act as if there is a direct correlation between a fighters size, and their power/durability.

Rather than looking at the average size of a fighters opponents, wouldn't it make more sense to ask which of their opponents were renowned for having an iron chin, or known to be a dangerous puncher?

These criticisms of Mcvey don't seem fair or accurate, and some of them seem (at least) just as applicable to you.
From what I've seen, Mcvey references his experience sparingly, usually to counter condescending or ad hominem attacks; he never brings them up to bully others or to suggest that we should regard his opinions as authoritative. I don’t see how his posts reveal an ego problem (just like I didn’t see how the posts critiquing your heavybag footage in the other forum were examples of the “ego masturbation,” you alleged.) Your posts suggest that you have as much of an ego--regarding your ability to analyze past fighters and find insights that contemporaries, experts, and modern fight fans don't see--as anyone in this entire forum. You accuse Mcvey of not tolerating opposing views, but I've seen you lash out at other posters for writing unflattering things about past fighters or for offering constructive criticism on how to work a heavybag. I've also seen you "like" uncivil posts from Mr.DagoWop and others attacking me and other posters. So is it really his alleged lack of civility that's led you to dry snitch on Mcvey to the mods to try to get him banned, or is it the fact that he and many other posters around here often think you're dead wrong in your views, analyses, and interpretations?

I do not insult people that give me constructive criticism.
You have done the same exact thing by liking posts that insult me. It's the sole reason I do it.

I have no problem with people who think I'm wrong.
I constantly try to build bridges with those who are most insulting towards me, especially with you.
And try to put the petty personal stuff behind us so we can move forward and discuss boxing, no matter how many times these petty issues seem to resurface.

I just want to talk about boxing, share new content, have interesting debates.
I don't want to soap opera stuff of "Well you said in 2014 that I did such and such!!"
Come on. This forum has way too much of this. Way too much of what we're doing right now.

    When is enough enough?
I think many of us assume that it has to be this way. It doesn't. And it would be so much better if it weren't.

I would say in a general sense there is a correlation but you can't use general trends to prove specific cases. I would say also there is a general trend towards bigger athletes punching harder... up to a point where they become bumbling pituitary cases lacking the coordination or reflexes to properly pull the trigger.

I would finally say that punching power is drastically overrated on this board and speaks volumes of the actual experience most commenting have with the sport.

I appreciate this considered post which if, I may say so, as far as it concerns me, I believe to be accurate.

I'm afraid you are only okay with debates as long as they agree with you.
As soon as you sense any resistance to toeing your "party line, you lose it big time and resort to childish name calling.
As far as you are concerned, it's your way or the highway.
Your diatribe towards me was a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black, and hence, your credibility and therefore this pseudo nobleness of purpose you are belatedly espousing , rings about as true as a counterfeit bill.
    Smelly old farts?

You will be civil for a while and probably mean it, but a poster will only have to offer an opinion that perhaps Rocky Marciano or some other favourite of yours was not quite the God you think he was, and your volatile temperament will rapidly come to the surface yet again and you will be back to making silly unsubstantiated accusations about this being a site that is in my pocket, and that I make self congratulatory posts and brook no dissent ,when the irony is ,as far as dissent is concerned ,you are actually referring to yourself , but are too blind to see it.
    Back to the thread!
