It is obvious Tua, while the lesser fighter, had absultely crushing power.
Marciano was better, including with punch variety, especially pound for pound, but he could not generate as much pure force with one shot.

There is a limit how hard a man whose peak weight was in the 180's can hit.
Great power, but not compared to the top pro boxer hitters at any size whatsoever.

Hello again, sir. (This may be an odd place to reply to you regarding our previous exchange but but it seems the inbox for this site only keeps track of only a small number of recent alerts.)

Anyway, as someone who also has an analytical temperament myself I know all too well how that can get under people's skin sometimes, but from what I saw (which to be fair I'm sure wasn't the full context) the sheer over-proportion of the calumny you were subjected to seemed quite puzzling.

In answer to your earlier question, I made an account there several months ago but was debarred from posting by technical problems and by the time I finally got the comment feature to work it appeared the site was all but deserted.
It's a damn shame, because it looks like that was an exceptionally good forum for a time.

I'm going to say the information available is just to incomplete to draw a firm conclusion, but I will say the weight disparity is nowhere near as decisive as some might suggest. (Or anyway, it's far from self evident to me why it would be.)
It's obviously not irrelevant but I don't think you can declare it an open and shut matter without coming dangerously close to assuming your consequent.

I'd like to see as many reliable figures as possible for different fighters' performances on psi machines. I'd certainly take that with a pinch of salt as well but it would be something. (I frankly suspect the coin-operated ones just generate random numbers.)

If you put a gun to my head, then I would say Tua, but it is not a given.

Wouldn't be surprised if Marciano's punching power was actually closer to that of a hard-hitting cruiserweight like S.T. Gordon than to David Tua's.

    Vingo was a 17fight novice 189lbs stringbean.
Mathews was a 179lbs hyped lightheavyweight.
Louis was 37 yeas old, having his last fight.
Layne was softened up with a steady bombardment of body shots ,before he was kod ,excellent tactics.
Walcott was 37&38 years old .
Morre was a 40 years old light heavyweight whom Marciano just wore down with a relentless barrage of punches.

Tua ko'd Moorer with a right hand.

Marciano never ko'd a 200lbs plus class man in his prime .In fact he never met one!
Marciano is the greater fighter ,Tua the greater one punch power hitter.

A sparring partner has said that Golovkin hits harder than Povetkin. Many sparring partners have said that he hits as hard as the big, powerful Heavyweights.

    Golovkin is only 154lb.

At 185lb imagine what a Golovkin type hitter can do. At that weight, Rocky was number 1. If Golovkin gets compared to SHWs, Im certain that no weight is too big for Marcianos power to match.

Don Turner who trained Holyfield, the Klitschkos: “Rocky Marciano was the hardest puncher I ever seen”

The above statement isn’t an absolute truth, but it’s a pretty noteworthy appraisal.

I am satisfied that Marciano had unusual power for a man of his weight.

The way his opponents react to his punches is very telling.

He doesn't just stop them, he numbs them.

There is also the testimony of the people of the receiving end.

Taken individually it can be dismissed, but taken in its entirety, you have to think that it is correct.

I also don't find the argument about the size of his opposition very compelling.

Even small world class heavyweights are inherently hard to stop, and often have superior chins.

Q.Do you actually believe Golovkin hits as hard as Povetkin when neither are pulling their punches?

    Q. Do you think Jacobs or Alvarez could take Povetkin's best shot? Yes or No will suffice.

I don't find an statement from Don Turner very convincing.
    Turner was born in 1939.

    When did he "see" Marciano?
Marciano was beating on men under 200lbs and the quality ones were of a certain age.
Tua was hitting big modern heavyweights in their prime , this has to be factored in.
Rocky is the superior fighter of that there is no doubt ,that doesn't mean he hit harder or even ,imo that he would beat Tua!

A hard hitting Cruiserweight more than likely hits harder than most heavyweights including hard hitting ones.
