if your talking about what they have achieved in boxing then mayweather, roy jones hasn't beaten anyone, the most notable victory is against a very green hopkins, wheras mayweather has beaten better opposition so for this reason i have more respect for him.

Hopkins and Jones had pretty much the same record when they fought ..Since that fight Hopkins went on a 10 yr run with out a loss .What green are you talking about ?I also guess you failed to mention a prime James Toney who is ten times better than anyone that MW has faced ..But with a comment like that I wonder if you ever really followed Jones and not just Mayweather ?

the thing that i'm trying to point out is that mayweather had fights against castillo, corrales, judah, gatti, hatton and delahoya, wheras roy jones only has hopkins and toney. roy jones and bernard hopkins had their fight too early in they carreer, bernard hopkins team has always admitted that roy was a step ahead of him at that time, but there should have been a rematch. it was a great achievement for roy top be heavyweight champ, but i still rank mayweather slightly above roy jones, but roy jones aint finished, i back him to beat calzaghe easily, and you might even see fights agaisnt pavlik.

As mediocre as Ruiz is compared to other heavyweights, would it be fair to say Roy beating him is more impressive then everything Mayweather's ever done? I only ask because before Jones won the Heavyweight title, the last and only time a former middleweight won it was over 100+ years prior when Bob Fitzsimmons did it.

Roy by a landslide!!! Mayweather may retire with an 0 in the loss column but that is only because he some favorable judging (JL Castillo I) and he ducked some of the top fighters of his era (Tszyu, Cotto, Margarito, Mosely). Both men accomplished a lot but RJJ did more. He cleared out the middleweight, super-middleweight, and light heavyweight divisions. The only exception being Michalczewski who they could never agree on money, terms, and where the fight would take place.

Really Mayweather has only had a nice run for the last 3 or 4 years. Before that he really wasn't fighting top guys. Roy had been a top top fighter for about 15 years!

Look at their five best wins.

    Mayweather has...

DLH (in a razor close SD)
    Hatton
Castillo (after getting a gift the first time)
    Judah
    Corrales

    For Jones Jr

    Hopkins
    Toney
Ruiz (becoming the first man in 100 years to come from middle to win a heavyweight title)
    Tarver
    Trinidad

RJJ is better even if he made some poor decisions at the end of his career that cost him a couple of losses.

Like him or not Ruiz was a live Heavyweight when Jones fought him, Honestly the man beat Oquendo who beat byrd, he ekked out a close fight with Golota he also managed to get by with Bubba Johnson who was fresher and in better shape for Ruiz than he was for Klitschko.
two wins over Holyfield though I think he really has one win, but even then that version of Holyfield was still very dangerous at the time, and Ruiz dropped him, how often do you see Evander get dropped like that?
Jones dominated every min every second of every round to win the WBA title.
Jones took a huge risk in fighting Ruiz who could have easily ended his career with a single shot. where is the risk that Floyd took? there hasnt been one for years!!!!!!! not since his rematch with Castillo.

The more Floyd talks and sounds bitter about stuff, the less respect he is gonna get from me...

    Throwing cash around..............
Acting brash... Floyd doesn't look like a man who demands respect..

He looks too much like a spoilt kid..
