Try actually watching the matches instead of reading stats. OT: Beterbiev is clearly better at long range, way better footwork and movement on top of a much more educated jab. He’s got a mean overhand right when he closes the distance and he is defensively sound as well. Benavidez is a bit of a plodder and doesn’t have a consistent jab. Inside is where I think Benavidez outclasses Beterbiev. He’s not as strong as Beterbiev up close but he’s got absolutely ridiculous handspeed and work-rate, and the combinations he puts together are far more creative and versatile than what Beterbiev comes up with, he’s got a lot of little tricks like pushing down opponents gloves and punching, framing them into uppercuts and body shots etc etc. He’s also harder to hit than Beterbiev is in the pocket and positions himself better for the most part. Overall I’d say Beterbiev, he’s proven his skills against far better competition than David so far.
Beterbiev is one of my all time favourites and I think he has considerably more boxing skill than Benavidez. However, I'm not confident that he currently beats Benavidez, he's too old. In his prime,he's arguably the most powerful dude to ever step into a ring but when was the last time he showed real one punch ko power? Years ago.
Beterbiev has never been a one punch KO guy - same way George Foreman wasn't a one punch KO guy. They beat the day lights out of you until your body gives up.
I only mentioned stats to provide some objective facts to counter nonsense like Beterbiev has better defense than David when he clearly doesn't to the eye or statistically. As for Beterbiev better at long range, I don't recall him even fighting at long range. He fights mid range and inside. He is an educated brawler who had a war with Yarde who was tagging him all fight with clean counters. Apart from Gvozdyk and Bivol who he only fought at the end of his career his resume is pretty weak. David's is deeper. This poll shows most people are still not appreciating David's skills and talent. He will keep educating them. PS. RIP Markus.
Bivol I & II were almost exclusively fought at mid / long range as Bivol moved way too well to get caught in a continuous inside war. Beterbiev, despite his age, did really well in cutting the ring with his feet, jabbing effectively with Bivol and even catching him with hard right hands at times. And come on dude, Joe Smith + Callum Smith are already above what David has to offer, with Bivol + Gvozdyk its not even a question.
You're an idiot. Why would a 40 year old man dance around the ring with quick reflexes? It's called being old.
Are they in the same weight class? I saw benevidez vs Charlo. haven’t seen beterbiev..except through blights..
