Both have an argument to being the most skilled super heavy ever, but who would you say is more skilled and why?
Offense: Wlad Defense: Fury Feinting and footwork: Fury Offensively, its not even close. Wlad has a better jab, Wlad has a way way better left hook. Wlad has a better straight right hand. The only punch Fury throws better than Wlad is the right uppercut. Fury's defense isn't great due to his size making him an easy target. But Fury, at least while younger and lighter, was defensively quite good. While Wlad's defense primarily relied on excessive and illegal clinching. So Fury wins. Fury is also better at feinting, confusing opponents etc.
It's Fury. Wlad is much more limited in terms of infighting, mid-range, and all the subsets that come at those ranges. You can't be held up as a paragon of skill in boxing if you don't bother with most aspect of two thirds of the arenas where the combat takes place.
Fury might be more skilled. He just didn't have the discipline to come in top shape like Wlad in parts of his career.
They’re both skilled in different ways, Fury was a stylistic nightmare for Wlad, who’s style was perfectly adapted to beating men smaller in height and weight than himself, he was a low volume fighter who would keep fights at range, do his work and clinch them, which obviously wouldn’t work against someone taller than himself and quicker with hands.
