Two fighters known for their impeccable defense and terrific counter punching ability although very different styles from each other with Toney relying on his opponents to come forward while Qawi was the one who came after his opponents. I personally think they were both pretty close together in terms of skills and H2H ability but who would you say was better in both departments in your opinion?

Very different set of skills and techniques . I’m leaning towards Toney

Toney gets the edge. Slightly better defense and better counter puncher.

Counterpunching wise I would say Toney was better. Defensively they're close to equal IMO. I would say Qawi was better at chasing his opponents down, either methodically or relentlessly while Toney seemed to look flustered whenever he was against an opponent that had good footwork.

Qawi was the better light heavyweight for sure. If we factor Toney’s supermiddleweight fights as light heavyweight contests, this would be an exceptional fight but I think Qawi would outwork Toney and take the decision. Cruiserweight is also interesting but neither fighter was as good as at the 170-ish weight range.
