More skilled: Juan Manuel Marquez or Marco Antonio Barrera

I feel like Barrera is more versatile whereas JMM has a locked-in style that works really well when he is able to counterpunch, but if he's in there against a superior counterpuncher I feel a lot of his strengths can get lost in the shuffle. JMM has a lot more sound qualities at range and in setting traps, but I feel Barrera is more of an all terrain vehicle in the ring.

 

About being a poor man’s Finito. Maybe he’s just a better tested Finito? Lopez for all his grace wasn’t baptised in fire like JMM.

 

It’s a tragedy Lopez couldn’t have faced fighters of better depth but his greatness is obvious and his competition was enough to get the measure of him it just would’ve been nice to have seen him truly and utterly at his limit.

Even against Rose at the end of the line it didn’t look like he came out of his last gear, he was unrightfully robbed of his perfect record with that draw Lopez created such a large gap in the competition one I haven’t seen in many before or after him.

But anyways, about JMM. I think you’ve got the right of it with your new post. I understand the “poor man’s” example though, I do think Lopez could very well be just a plain better boxer but both were great and I don’t think it’d be fair to call them a poor anything in the ring.

 

Marquez should be the correct answer.
