More Skilled Operator: Roman Chocolatito Gonzalez or Ricardo Lopez?

Gonzalez demonstrated his skills against much greater competition. It is a lot easier to look brilliant against lower levels of competition, I don't think Lopez would look anywhere near as good against Gonzalez competition, but Gonzalez would only look even better if he fought Lopezs competition.

 

I was prepared not to agree with you, but that last sentence may well be one of the most astute comments in the history of this forum.

 

It's hard to say, but Roman Gonzalez "Chocolatito) is one of the only ones who can beat him at 108 lbs anyway.

 

As someone who loves Finito (as you can see from my avatar) it’s Chocolatito based on how he was able to perform at a high level against greater opposition than Lopez. Choco was every bit as good, if not better, as a technician. When it comes to comparing their styles Lopez was better at boxing off the back foot while Chocolatito was better at pressuring and fighting on the inside. In terms of defense Lopez was more elusive but I always thought Choc’s high guard was very tight which made him very effective defensively especially for a fighter who was constantly on the offense.
