He only came forward because he saw he could hurt him. He ran in the beginning, with that scared face. Once he seen he could hurt him, he had a mean face like he's billy badazz. That whole fight made him seem silly to me.

Ray had no choice but to go for the KO against the KO puncher. It was a risk.

Now that is the first accurate statement you have made! I applaud you!

Don't bother responding unless you like to talk to yourself, as this is the only time I will even recognize you again. You like Floyd, fine but he has nothing to do with this thread...Furthermore you either are a teenybopper who has never watched boxing untill recently and have no clue who SRL really is...because your criticisms of him have no basis in reality. Or you are totally inept at understanding boxing and looking at the skillsets involved over the course of a fight.

You want to be a fan boy, that is fine and also why we have a general forum....But I am not sure why you are wasting your time or ours when you 1. have an agenda based in homoeroticism 2. are totally inept at evaluting a skilled fighter and the many dynamics of a fighters arsenal...have a nice life!

Leonard's definitely got the better offensive skill set. It's a close call, I do respect Floyd's defensive abilities quite a bit, but you make a good point.

To answer the thread, Whitaker is probably the more skilled.

This thread has turned into something from General... All threads lead to Floyd or Manny...

Holy ****, how did it get to this point?

This moron has successfully turned the attention to Floyd mainly, and now he's mentioning Pac... ****.

When has Benitez ever been mentioned as the BEST defensive fighter of all time, like Floyd and Pernell? He's a solid legend, but get out of here with the other crap.

The reason SRL would run from Shane, and Cotto, is because they were punchers, and he wasnt skilled enough to stand there without getting hit. He's not standing there trying to make his offense easy. He's trying to focus on not getting hit against guys like that.

SRL's greatness comes from his legacy. He is a GREAT fighter, but skillwise, he is not the best. Floyd and Pernell where, OBVIOUSLY. A defensive fighter will always be better than a guy like Ray, who only had speed basically.

SRL Had the power to hurt Ortiz, but Ortiz's power is something that would make SRL run, run, run. SRL actually ran from a littly bitty Duran at WELTERWEIGHT!!..LOL

Yes your right, Pernell did run sometimes. But that only proves that Floyd has way better skills than Pernell, as well as Focus. Which means that Floyd is much MUCH more skilled than SRL.

SRL Ran from Herns, with that scared silly face. Once he seen he could hurt him, all of a sudden he's chasing him with the mean face. It was silly to me.

Yes Floyd has been known to run, BUT thats because it was his style. When the media challenged him on it, he just showed that it was easy for him to walk guys down. The reason Floyd can do it, and SRL cant, is because SRL doesnt have the amount of skills that a fighter like Pernell or Floyd possesses.

I criticize SRL for losing to Duran(at WW) and losing from going toe to toe, because its my proof that he just didnt have the skills to go toe to toe with punchers. He couldnt even tap the little guy with a jab. He had to run in the rematch. Why didnt he make the adjustments, and start running in the first fight, instead of getting thadazz thrashed for 15 cool ones?

Damn, didn't think this thread would get ruined. Let's stay on topic and leave the Floyd/Manny stuff in the General Forum. Thanks.

Whittaker easily. Leonard's defense was way overrated. Leonard was hit quite a bit in his prime and was also outboxed at times. The Hearns, Duran and Kalule fights come to mind. Even the undertrained Benitez had his moments. Whittaker rarely lost rounds, and was almost always in control. The only times he lost were when he was way past his prime.

Sweet Pea was also 4 inches shorter than Leonard, and still outboxed guys much taller than him. The only thing SRL had on him was Ray was a better finisher and quicker combo puncher.

It wasnt a risk. He only came forward cuz he seen he could hurt him. Whether Floyd can hurt you or not, he's coming forward. If that dont work, he is going to make adjustments and do what it takes to win.
