More talented fighter: Zab Judah or Chad Dawson

Judah. He had ATG potential.

 

If he had ATG potential, he would of had a better career. Who's the more talented boxer? Dawson no question about it.

 

Judah needed to move out of Brooklyn when he turned pro. With the right trainer, he could have been something very special. Great speed, power, and a south paw. So much potential.

 

LOL! she's no one famous dude (not even that cute) but the body sure looks delicious. Just some Random Puerto Rican, Dominican, mixed chick that looks like a whole lot of fun in bed.

 

He is a 6 time world champ and was the undisputed champ at welter. Just because you have the potential doesn't mean you will achieve it. There is more to that like heart, work ethic, and the mind. Judah didn't have any of the 3.

 

Zab was incredibly physically gifted, but he was not world level when it came to the mental side of the game. Unfortunately, for some people, there appears to be little one can do to overcome the mental limitations to the degree necessary to succeed at the absolute highest level. In that sense, Zab never had ATG potential, since his mental limitations would always limit his ability to capitalize on his immense physical talent.

 

I don't know if I agree with that. It makes sense though. That is like saying Lebron doesn't have top 5 all time potential because he doesn't show up in the NBA Finals. Or like Rasheed Wallace never having the potential to be on the greatest players in nba history.

I think essentially i'm saying that i believe that potential has to be something that was achieveable. I don't think Zab was actually capable of achieving what his physical gifts may have implied that he was. It wasn't bad luck that prevented him reaching ATG status, it was his own inherant limitations that were always there but weren't fully apparent until his career was effectively over. He appeared to have more potential than he had.

I actually disagree with pretty much everyone here.


I think Dawson is clearly more naturally gifted as a boxer, both physically and technically. The speed he has for his size is excellent, along with his reach and the fact that he has a massive frame for a LHW. Zab always had speed and punching power, but he was never a big fighter even for his weight class, his frame never looked big compared to anyone he fought.

Dawson could clearly be a massive puncher if he actually sat on his punches and committed more to them.

Even though Zab freezes up during fights and falls on the big stage, he'd go in there trying to mix it up and would be throwing daggers until he self destructed. Dawson on the other hand is way too relaxed and just so overly complacent that I actually believe he is worse mentally. When was the last time you saw Dawson go into a fight, from the opening bell, and fight with the gas pedal to the floor? Never. He just tries to get by on technical ability but you can see all that natural ability just being bottled up. It's a shame, really.
