He legitimately looks like he's training for good take-down defense. He doesn't look as pudgy as he did in interviews from a few weeks back. He'll never be prime again, but he looks like he's preparing well learning what he needs to in order to make it his fight. The fact they put subtitles is hilarious. I can't believe some people when they say Toney will be defenseless pressed up against the cage. Sure, the fence isn't elastic rope, but being pressed against is something Toney has been working with his whole career. Sure, the dynamics are different with wrestling and elbows/knees at the disposal of the aggressor, but the pocket is where James Toney lives. He is arguably the best fighter in the pocket ever, and is very comfortable/dominant countering away a pressure fighter blasting holes in them round after round with the fight staying in one tight spot with his back to the ropes. If he's not outboxing them with this slickness, fast hands and accuracy, he's right at home on the inside. Now I'm not saying Toney isn't gonna see things he's never seen before or that he'll even win against Randy, but to hear someone say "nobody's ever done that to him before" in terms of trying to smother and chop away at him is ****ing ignorant.
yea joe rogan definitely showed his ignorance when it comes to boxing. randy couture likes to fight on the cage and toney likes to fight on the ropes. toney is the king of inside fighting or "dirty boxing" as they call it in mma. i hope randy just tries to stay up on his feet but he wonttt he will bring it to the ground and mma fans will cream their pants because their hall of famer cant stand and trade with a pro boxer
