It's a joke, but self interest and corruption rules. Although it would be better for the fans, and in the overall interest of the sport, why would the various bodies merge, and stop all the politics when they, promoters, and even a lot of boxers, make money out of it? It totally sucks, but I think the genie is already out of the bottle on this one!

So Gamboa is no longer a title holder?

That was a daylight robbery. It wasnt even close, something like 118-110, 117-111 for Jmm.

Not that it matters (I agree that this whole situation is ludicrous), but the way they justified elevating Gamboa to "super champ" was by making Chris John a "champion in recess" since he was injured for a while, even though by that time he already had a defense scheduled against Fernando David Saucedo.

And the only reason the IBF sticks to their rules is that they used to be the most corrupt at all, and actually were criminally penalized for corruption. The only way they were allowed to not dissolve was to enter into an agreement with the US government that they'll stick by their rules.

That explains why the IBF have been better than the other orgs recently (although still shitty)

    The WBA are the worst!

My thoughts exactly. They're all crooked, but if I were fighting my goal would be the WBC and the IBF belt. FTR.

Which is why I'd like to repeat my question - how comes no lawyer has gotten on WBA's ass yet and sued the crap out of them?

The UFC belt org is handled completely in house by the leadership in the UFC. Now that is good and bad, the good is that they don't have 45 champs per weight class. They have the actual champ, and if the actual champ is down for a period of time, an interim champ who challenges the actual champ when he comes back. Because the belt doesn't require a fee and the legitimacy issues are passed onto the UFC company as a whole there is no profit gained by creating 25 belts.

TS, you forgot the funniest part, you should edit your first post with this:

2 of Gamboa's last 3 opponents are now official champs. here's the funny part: one of them, which got blasted by Gamboa 3 fights ago, is now the official WBA champ and Gamboa (who should be the real champ) is not even the the #1 contender! Yes sir, the WBA decided to place Gamboa at #2 contender, behind Caballero. how's that? :)

WBA is a farce anymore. I lost respect for them after Klitschko kod their boy Chagaev and the belt went up for grabs. BS.

Guess when Haye is KOd by Wlad, they'll probably strip Haye as well, leaving Wlad to chase Potvetkin and Meehan for 3 years to get their belts.:rofl
