From an ESPN blog this morning.

Germany's Bild newspaper reported Wednesday that Bernd Boente, the manger of Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko, said a deal was close for Wladimir to fight David Haye in June but then Haye's management made more demands. The report indicated that either Nikolai Valuev or Chris Arreola could still be Klitschko the Younger's next opponent even though they are more or less committed to bouts against Ruslan Chagaev and Jameel McCline respectively.
"The contract is not signed yet but I hope it will happen," Wladimir told ESPN.com of the prospective Haye bout. "I'm relying on David Haye backing up his talk and showing that he wants to fight because otherwise I would not have stayed out of the ring for so long. I want to stay active and six months out is too long. I had three fights last year, so I'm not happy at all with the negotiations and the length of time that they have taken. If I knew it was shaky like it is right now, I would not have spent so much time on this and I would have been fighting some time in March or April. Obviously, we are busy with Vitali's event right now but at the beginning of next week either we put together a David Haye fight or we move on."

the thing is if the fight falls through Haye would have held up the Division by keeping Wlad inactive.

CHEF, do you think there is a chance for a Valuev fight? I know Valuev is supposed to and is pushing for a Chagaev fight but from what I have read it looks like Chagaev's people are not too keen on it.

They are talking, have been since the 1st problems with Haye... It might happen. Thats why Chagaev called out Valuev right away... to try and get the fight with Valuev and keep Klitschko OUT

Im not sure where the talks are now, but like I said, they are talking. I had to wait for Wlad to say something:good

That makes sense then. I read an article where Valuev said if Chagaev's people would not hurry up and get the fight together that he would take a "lucrative" optional defense first and make Chagaev wait until the Fall for a fight.

Hopefully Valuev means he is willing to fight either Klitschko if Chagaev keeps stalling.

I would much rather see Wlad vs Valuev anyways. The fights means much more. Haye is getting boring.

Chef, i told you several months ago that I didn't think Haye ever had any intention of fighting either Wlad or Vitali. I think he just wants to be considered in the elite class of the division.

Haye still has yet to prove me wrong. Man, i hope he does!!

Wlad vs Valuev would be MUCH better than Haye or Arreola. Unification is always a good thing.

Valuev certainly would want to fight Wlad or Vitali..but his promoters would rather gargle with **** before they set that up.

A "lucrative" title defense for Valuev would be a fight against the current beached whale version of Mike Tyson..who he'd probably need a gift decision to beat.

would be nice to see what the contract stipulations are, would mean less idiot fans from both sides speculating about total bull**** in the hope it's passed off as fact if enough like minded fools continue the rhetoric. It's getting very boring, I just hope the fights made, whatever...
