People often forget Mormeck fought at 160 as an amateur and that he wanted to fight as a pro at 175. He is now 38 and he fights at 200+ What he tries to do deserves respect. Thanks to him young French boxers can fight on the cards he promotes in front of 5000 people.
Who is the truth in boxing ? Compare his performance against Haye with the performances of Audley Harrison or even Maccarinelli. Mormeck always tries to fight whatever the power, skills, speed, size advantage of his opponent.
Mormeck is a former unified and Ring CW champion. He could have chosen nobodies and he would have obtained a title shot (K2 had already sent him an offer for a fight against W.Klitschko...) . Instead he chose to fight real opponents to deserve a shot. His ultimate goal is a rematch against Haye.
The cards are sold on Mormeck's name only : nobody knows Oquendo or Ibragimov in France. If Ibragimov does the job sure he can obtain the win. But of course he won't escape with the win taking 0 risk if the fight is close !
