You obviously have never watched the fight. I watched it. Oquendo won. Not debatable.

 

By this account I doubt you watched that fight either. Stop talking **** to defend a guy you will never meet. Try and watch a fight that doesn't involve a Klitschko.

 

I always loved him and Wlad doesn't have the guts to go for the fast finish. In the meantime, Commander Vander connects one left hook like he did on Savarese and it's good night Wlad. Jokes aside, Wlad is not such an aggressive thug and Holyfield is not such a defenseless oldie. If it gets stopped due to Wlad putting on the painful one-sided slaughter, then stop it... But Mormeck?

 

Mormeck definitely lost to Oquendo. There's no doubt there. The Ibragimov fight could have gone to either guy. Many, many writers and fans on this board had Ibragimov ahead 7-5 at the end. The French officiating (the same guy who referee'd Ibragimov was a judge for Oquendo-Mormeck) was horrible in both fights. The visiting fighters were harrassed and inhibited by the ref endlessly.

 

Don't forget also that the referee would not let Oquendo clinch. Everytime Oquendo tied up Mormeck, the referee stepped in a warned of a point loss, or a DQ. Even worse, when Fres landed his overhand right to the top of Mormeck's head (Mormeck constantly ducked into it), the ref issued the same warnings to Oquendo.

In essence, Oquendo had to give only 70% of himself in that fight -- because of the ref -- yet still won 6 to 8 of the rounds hands down.

 

Haye gets **** for fighting Barret, Ruiz and Valuev (and Bonin), but Mormeck gets a pass with that garbage?

Mormeck outworked Oquendo, taking him to the body, and beating his arms down all night long. Yeah, Mormeck never had Oquendo hurt, but he threw sooooo much more, and while the majority of his shots were landing on Fres arms, shoulders and chest/belly, they were landing. Fres couldn't keep up with Mormecks in and out style. And all he resorted to was grappling when he did catch Mormeck.

Tiggy wasn't as close as Mormeck IMO. Mormeck actually hurt Tiggy a couple times, and used the same strategy of in and out, to the body to the head/shoulders. Same effect.....Tiggy would swing for the fences, Mormeck would step inside and get tied up. He'd make the break himself, firing 2-3 quick shots on his way out.

He completely schooled Maddalone, but that really isn't a gauge.

As for his credibility.....the mans only been KOd 2X, and both times by huge punches who were much bigger than him. Haye was almost 215 lbs for their fight, and Bell, well, he's a beast of a CW. Mormeck is a LITTLE HW, no question, but he also has some impressive KO's himself, and avenged his loss to Bell by schooling him, and nearly KOd Haye before succumbing to Haye's sheer hugeness. It was like David and Goliath, except a slugfest.

And B4 you come back with the fights were in France......:think Think about the paydays Oquendo and Tiggy and Maddalone got. Why stage the fights in Chicago, Belarus, or NY in front of a few hundred people with NO TV $$$ when you can fight in front of thousands of people in Paris and millions of TV shares building the pot.:hey

I disagree.....You can't hold and hit. That is a foul and worthy of the warning or deduction. whatever % Fres fought at it was Fres in there not me or you, and Fres had his opportunities, but trying to hold and hit early was more than enough to show the world how frustrated he was with Mormecks speed.

And how do you give Fres 6-8 rds when he only landed 10 shot/rd. Yeah, Mormeck was landing mostly to the body, but still outworking the bigger man. Much more exciting than the Haye Valuev fight. Moremck wasn't fighting scared vs either Oquendo or Tiggy, and I doubt he'll fight scared vs Wlad, and likely employ the same in/out to the body strategy that he won his fights with.

You have never watched either fight. If you think Mormeck beat Oquendo you don't know anything about boxing, which being as you are a Klitschko fan is a real possibility.

 

First you said Mormeck schooled Oquendo like Roy Jones schooled Ruiz. That indicates you never watched the fight. Irrefutable.

 

It's a crap fight but Wlad can't force guys to fight him. Better to stay active. The champion is the one seeking out challenges.

Povetkin, Helenius and Arreola are the only interesting fights left for him. All three turned down the december date. Still, all three are gross mismatches.

I would love Wlad to fight 3 or 4 times next year.

 

I'd take a Wlad KO for a million dollars too.

 

I see your point, there a few legit fighters that can challenge Wlad. But i would have perfered Helenius.
