I had to make note of this. So there is a thread over there about how Anderson Silva wants to fight Boxings "185lb Champ". Is this true? I don't know. but I read a few posts down and it amazes me how ignorant some people can be when it comes to boxing. One quote that made me come here and make this thread is "Is Pavlik the 185lb champ? I'm too tired to google itt........" :admin atsch How do you not know who the middleweight ****ing champ is and that middleweight is 160lbs????? Any way, what do you all think about Silva's chances in a boxing ring? :deal
Its Sherdog. Theres no need to ask anymore question. The amount of young pre teens on that forum is shockingly alarming. There is a percentage of less than 10% that actually know what there talking about or who can made a subjective and educated post. As for Silva`s chances in the ring forget about it.At cruiser or at light heavy he`d get beaten up by an average journeyman. Silva`s GREAT at what he does. But NOT in a boxing ring.
I think it was just an off hand comment in an interview, nothing serious. That thread was ****ing hilarious. In the middle of it, some jackass posted some old Cruiserweight rankings with the weight limit still listed at 190 lbs. I rarely read Sherdog. The UG is a much better forum, and a lot more fighters post there.
They have this thing over at Sherdog where they think boxers users 16 oz gloves, which really pisses me off. The other day i made a perfectly legit thread about Silva stepping up to 205 and it was deleted. I've said it before but this time i am done posting on that site.
the Muay Tai Clinch w/ knees is where Anderson is so damn devastating..... His only weakness or his weakest area is defending takedowns but it takes a really good wrestler to expose that and he's very hard to hurt on the ground, his submissions are really good and so is his submission defense....and he can take a punch.... Wow, he's like the perfect fighting machine......Also he's got cold spider blood in his veins....no mercy.....the Octagon is his lair...there's a new comic book anti-hero waiting to happen his name is Arachno.....:scaredas:
He's had a few boxing matches, done decently against nobodies obviously. He's by no means world class, but he's a good boxer. If someone like Jens Pulver could go 4-0, I'm sure Anderson could beat a journeyman or two.
Anderson Silva has at least one professional win against someone I never heard of in Brazil. His boxing is pretty smooth, and I think he would do well in a boxing ring. Would he become a champion? Almost assuredly no.
Who knows how he would do? I seem to remember something from years past about Silva wanting to fight Roy Jones JR. Perhaps I could be misremembering.
He could probably attain C level in boxing, but he couldn't hang with anyone decent north of 160 pounds. Kelly Pavlik, even being outweighed, would absolutely maul the hell out of him. It's a different sport. Some of the techniques translate, for sure, but that only gets you so far.
Shitdog is good for one thing...comic relief...I see alot of p4p threads being started there...like they know what the **** it means lol
Yeah. Their non-MMA forums are okay. Their strength one is very solid. Their offtopic one is hiliarious, though completely immature. Their multimedia one is good if you're looking for random YouTube clips. But there's nothing of value over there when it comes to MMA. Trolls and more trolls.
