Cant wait for this fight, if only cos like buses you dont see scottish fighters on the box, then two come along at once!(Simpson, now Baz for the less enlightened amongst you)

The general consensus is that Daws has been the more active & on a winning streak compared to the comparitively inactive Morrison who has lost two recent high profile fights & therefore Daws should win on points.

    HOWEVER

Although Lenny has been winning, he hasnt looked in good form recently... that workrate that had many people thinking Lenny could become a special fighter has diminished the last couple of times I have watched him if you ask me...
So theres hope for Barry Morrison, who although inactive, did beat a prime Lenny Daws.
Its a fascinating fight, & one I havent spoken about much on here cos I was sure it would be called off, it was almost to good to be true when my good man Maka broke the news here!

However, looks like its still on, & Im well up for it!

    I hope Baz is too:D

Forgotten man Lenny Daws of Morden looks to get back in the limelight in a crack at the vacant British light-welterweight title against former conqueror Barry "The Bizness" Morrison at York Hall tomorrow (Friday). At one time Daws looked like one of the best prospects in the country, particularly when he forced Colin Lynes to bail out on his stool after nine rounds and lifted this same belt with a 12-round decision over Crook’s useful Nigel Wright in 2006. Morrison then burst his bubble (and took his title) on a shock 12-round split decision in an exciting affair in North London a year later and, two fights later, southpaw Wright held the ex-champion to a 10-round draw, so Londoner Lenny looked to be going backwards.
Daws is renowned for his late-round charges and those type of fighters, shipping punches in the early rounds and trading on guts and stamina to overcome their opponents, often burn out. Nevertheless, Daws had won four on the spin since the Wright draw, and picked up the English light-welterweight belt with a 10-round decision over Peter McDonagh earlier this year to secure this second crack.
To Morrison, who never built on his British title win, either, and was outscored by an in-form Lynes in his first defence before his own fans in Motherwell. Morrison is solidly built, stiff-hitting and aggressive, with a surprisingly good jab, but Lynes had the better jab. The Scot came back to challenge David Barnes for the same title (after Lynes had vacated as he was messed around by Team Gianluca Branco) and found Barnes too slick in Liverpool last year on the way to a points defeat, which is no disgrace.
This one is bound to go the full 12 rounds, given Lenny’s stamina and Barry’s durability. Neither man has been stopped and Morrison will be thinking what he can do once he can do again. His win over the then unbeaten Daws at the Ally Pally holds up as a huge one - but does lightning strike twice? I’m not sure. Daws, ironically nicknamed “Lightning”, regains the title on a hard-earned decision.
In a good-looking chief support West Ham’s Matthew Marsh defends his British super-bantamweight crown against Barnsley hope Josh “Outlaw” Wale, scheduled for 12 rounds, of course. It is defence No. 2 for the wiry and energetic Londoner, who is punching with more authority these days and must have his eye on a Lonsdale Belt outright. York Hall is also his ‘manor’.
As for his challenger, I know very little, bar what his record tells me. He was looking good early in his career but then suffered a stoppage loss to South Africa’s dangerous Harry Ramogoadi in three rounds last September and apparently looked wide open. Ramogoadi, however, has since stopped Derry Matthews and would have enjoyed natural weight on Wale, although Wale stands 5ft 7ins.
Wale went back to to the drawing board and re-emerged in the summer with a win over regular visitor Wladimir Borov. He actually stopped Borov (four rounds), who usually sticks around so must carry a bit of a dig at 8-1 (4). Trainer Dave Coldwell once told me Wale is one to watch.
This is bound to be exciting as both men tear into one another but Wale still has an inexperienced feel about him, having never done more than six rounds, and the more experienced Marsh, roared on by his fans and possessing a great engine (done 10 rounds or more five times), must be favoured to ride out a few rough spots on the way to a rough decision.

I'm bit worried Lenny is struggling with weight. I think he needs to start fast tomorrow night and get on top of Morrison and take him into deep waters. Last time he started a little slow.

I think this one could end up being a very exciting battle.

I expect Morrisson to jump on him and take it to Daws and make him quit. I like both lads and will always be grateful to Daws for making Lynes quit but from their 1st fight I know Morrissomn has the tools to win this fight hopefully he can stop him as the fight is in England not Scotland as we don't need another dodgy decision. Come on Bazza.

This will warm us up for Saturday when the great PBF returns against the great Marquez. I know Marquez is desperate to win but I feel it will be a sad night for Mexico.
