This is a dream fight that should have happened in the 90's. The Duke vs The Powerful Pole. Who wins this clash of the white titans of the 90's? I see Tommy coming out with both "Gunn's" blazing rattling Golota in the first round. Andrew comes back with some precision jabs and right hands which knock down Tommy in the second. Then The Duke's mental toughness kicks in and he continues landing some strong left hooks in the next rounds. Golota begins losing it and loses some points for low blows. After a terrific battering in the 7th round, Golota refuses to come out forr the 8th. Morrison TKO
Same prediction I gave in the Cooney-Golota thread. Golota freezes up from the first Morrison left hook. Tommy blitzes him. Golota couldnt handle punchers.
Woo wee, I like this fight! Man we all missed out on some tremendous 90's battles, didn't we? So many potential slugfests and firefights at our disposal. I see something similar to Tua-Rahman with Golota having all kinds of success. But somewhere in the late rounds Morrison connects and makes Golota reach for that soft spot on the canvas.
Really depends on when they fought. Golota wasn't quite the same after the rematch with Bowe. That brutal fight damaged them both. And Tommy Morrison wasn't quite the same after the Joe Hipp fight. That was also brutal. Too hard to call. I could see a younger Morrison blowing an older Golota out. And I could see a younger Golota, prior to the Bowe rematch, boxing the ears off Morrison. Pretty much a tossup.
One of the better fantasy 90's heavyweight bouts, aint it? So many possibilities and circumstances here declaring a winner.
Golota's problem was anxiety, funny enough against Tongan power-puncher Samson Pouha, he didn't freeze, he fought back bit him in the neck and stopped him after being battered and bloodied. I think Golota would have benefited with the help of a sports psychologist. The guy had the size, the skills, an Olympic Bronze medal, he could fight but always froze on the big stage.
