I know The joke is that is the sort of thing someone like Spike would jump on as proof that Japan is crazy racist.

The classic example is that line in Malcolm X where some militant is decrying "@ home with Dick & Jane" because 'the only black thing in those books is the spot on the goddamn dog's back!' - like...yeah, no shit, in the suburbs in the 1950's it was mostly white people, accurate representation of a setting doesn't make Dick nor Jane nor the author of the freaking children's books racist.
