There, no longer just me outta sync, all three of us are now officially divergent. Great (and close) fight so far.
Exactly. All variations on the pattern of "Mthalane's economic, generally straight head shots with high accuracy" vs. "Kuroda's volume with mostly hooks below the guard" - but each round has its own interesting surges of momentum either way, and there hasn't been a minute that wasn't competitive and hotly contested.
4th looked clear to Moruti for me, has Masayuki on the run for the last minute+ and landed a mean hook on the kisser, flushest shot of the round. 38-38
Round 1 Mthalane 10-9, close Round 2 Kuroda 10-9, close Round 3 Mthalane 10-9, very close Round 4 Mthalane 10-9, close
Round 1: 10-9 Mthalane close Round 2: 10-9 Kuroda close Round 3: 10-9 Kuroda close Round 4: 10-9 Kuroda close Kuroda is throwing much more than Mthalane but he's missing a lot, still it feels like he's outworking the Champion, especially with an insane amount of body shots. Mthalane countering well and landed a couple of good combos aswell but overall he's not active enough to take those rounds clearly. Another close round though.
2-2 Mthalane takes round 4 on my card as we continue to have every round insanely close, with great back and forth and both having moments
Round 1 Mthalane 10-9, close Round 2 Kuroda 10-9, close Round 3 Mthalane 10-9, very close Round 4 Mthalane 10-9, close Round 5 Mthalane 10-9
Round 1: 10-9 Mthalane close Round 2: 10-9 Kuroda close Round 3: 10-9 Kuroda close Round 4: 10-9 Kuroda close Round 5: 10-9 Mthalane Kuroda clearly slowing down. Less output, swings his shots and Mthalane having probably his best round so far. He landed a couple of good shots, Kuroda gassing badly and looked hurt in the last minute at some point. Kuroda also cut on the left eye.
I got it 3-2 Mthalane after he’s taken the last 2 rounds but it could be anywhere from 3-2 Kuroda to 4-1 Mthalane
3-2 Kuroda Do wonder how bad that cut will effect him, he's been cut in quite a few fights so might not be a massive issue
Moruti "Sweet Hands" Mthalane. *cue a letter from Caleb Plant's lawyers* - yeah IDGAF, you can have the nickname when this ancient wonder retires. He been in the game since you were getting snot knocked outta your head in the junior amateurs, Caleb. edit: perfectionist that I am, had to fact-check my timeline... it turns out Caleb didn't take up boxing until he was 12, in 2004...Mthalane had been pro four years already.
