this is another example of style clash, like taylor losing to pavlik twice, and hopkins losing to taylor twice and every one automatically thinking b hop was up for slaughter against pavlik but it was much the other way around. different boxers handle different styles in a different way, some can handle it and some can not adjust. when marg beat cotto every one though mosely was in for and hiding as he lost to cotto, but styles clash didnt allow it to happen. the best boxer who adapts to anyones style is calzaghe by a long shot imo.
Styles make fights ... period. you nailed it. Foreman demolished frazier and norton, Ali lost to both..... and we all know the rest of the story...
The most tormenting aspect of picking fights is the human aspect, the 'err' itself. This particular triangle isn't based around the all important intangibles of how worn down Margarito may have been (something I've been on about for months, so it's "my thing" I guess), and how moderately Mosley performed in the first Cotto fight - Mosley's chosen fight plan and execution against Cotto. Intangibles are heavier for me than styles in this one. Shane thinks he uncovered Cotto's Achilles heel and exposed it for Margarito - the truth is Mosley should have mauled the questionably durable Cotto from the opening bell in the first fight instead of playing paddy cake with him for 9 rounds. The outcome may have been very different - that, according to Shane himself, anyway. If Cotto wins the Mosley rematch then I'll go here.
