i've seen this thread started b4 and for some reason every time i see this thread their is a large group of people whome seem to think Mosely would outbox TITO.:huh it really has me thinking of the Liberty Valance syndrome: "WHEN THE LEGEND BECOMES FACT, PRINT The LEGEND." I never really got how the this rumor came about of SSM being sum supurb boxer. At LW he was a beast no doubt about it and this is not a knock on SSM this is addressing the myth that he woudl be able to out box certain fighter ALA TITO,PBF, or Whitaker SSM has always been a combo puncher who has relied on his speed, reflexes, athelitism, and power. he rather trade then box if he or tito were to fight 9 out of 10 SSM would choose to trade with Tito and that would be his down fall IMHO. even during the 1st DLH fight he didn't outbox DLH he out fought him getting the better in exchanges . take a look how he fought stone . he has very solid boxing skill but nowhere near Sweet pea, pbf, SRL or even DLH. agian this is no shot at SSM as he is a great fighter im just addressing the facts. don't be surprised if ZAB outboxes him but to back to topic he has to much of warrior heart and in a tito fight that would be his down fall
People get the impression because of Mosley's speed that he is a great boxer, but he's more of a speedy slugger.
RITGHT i KNOw but really this myth is really messing with peoples judgement on some fights . like people even HBO gave praise on how cotto was able to out box or box with mosley like SSM was PBF or SWeet pea. i mean i give cotto credit for the win but as far as out boxing MOSELY i really don't think thats a big accomplishment . now if let say it awas a war and he out slugged mosely and tko'd him now thst different but as you could see mosely had lost speed there for he wasn't as effective as he would of been in his prime
People always get false impressions on fighters. There's people that think Cotto just started boxing (rather than pressuring) last year, LaMotta was a powerful and skill-less, and that Hagler always fought like he did against Hearns. Cotto outjabbing and outboxing Mosley didn't really surprise me much. Cotto's always been more technical than Mosley and used a more authoritative jab than the pawing one that Shane often uses. Cotto just doesn't have the immense athleticism and physical gifts that Mosley has. In fact I was impressed by Mosley, he made it closer and gave Cotto a tougher bout than I expected. I expected Cotto to win by a wider margin, and I only had him ahead 7-5.
ugh..no need to start another thread on this man...The other thread went massive big and it was disgusting lol...And I agree..Mosley could slightly adjust but his adjustments wouldn't be anything big enough to confuse such a powerful and accurate fighter like Trinidad who could fight the 12th round at the same intensity that he fought the 1st round. The match up is all wrong for Mosley. Why? Because this fight is 100% certain to be a war, and it is illogical to choose a smaller Mosley to be able to go 12 rounds at war with Trinidad @ 147lbs.
nah this more on the lines of the whole myth of mosely being able to outbox so an so maybe i should change the thread title how do i do that?
