It is impossible to tell what Itauma's level is. His best win is over Dempsey McKean, which is nowhere near these two. Based on what I have seen of him so far? My guess is that he wins a decision over Parker due to his superior hand speed and output, but would lose a decision to Kabayel. Kabayel is one of those that may never get a title shot, or get one too late, because he just isn't marketable enough. Even though the ability is clearly there.
Parker is by far the most proven of the three. Kabayel looks decent but has very few quality wins - he looked great against Zhang (who is both very old and loses as much as he wins at contender level), and he beat Chisora half a career ago... Other than that, he's not done very much worth talking about. Itauma is still a green prospect... He might well turn out to be something special, but we have no idea what his chin is like yet, we have no idea how good his recovery is yet, we have no indication as to how much heart he's got yet and his stamina is also an unknown - all of these unknowns are largely because he's been matched cautiously and his fights have ended very early as a result. Right now, I don't think anyone here knows enough about too many important aspects of Itauma as an overall package to pick him over either of the others...
Itauma is NOT going ten or even much less twelve rounds with parker, kabayel or anyone near that level right now. Parker and kabayel are much too tough to be bothered much by itaumas power. He will have the speed advantage for a few rounds, but both will soon take it away. And the few hints we saw as to how itauma looks when pressed into defense does not bode well for him in a long fight against top level. Parker and kabayel would end this fight before round 8 is my guess. Itauma has a good chance of being amazing, but he needs another 10 fights first given the pace he is progressing in right now. He will probably only fight kabayel and parker when they are on their way out or never.
I appreciate your enthusiasm Marcus. That brain of yours never ceases. You truly are a boxing fan but come on Dude….give it a thought before posting these hypotheticals. This is actually a step further from your Bakole question a very short while back. Itauma is a tremendous PROSPECT. It likely won’t be too long before he steps up the comp and graduates to mid level contender status (12-18 months give or take) but he’s nowhere near facing a top contender at this stage. No management team worth their salt would dream of putting him up against that level at this point. He needs seasoning and ROUNDS. He’s ready for Martin, Vianello, Wallin, and the sort. By early next yr he can likely step up to Joyce level then possibly Bakole, Chisora, Ortiz. Once he gets by this stage impressively then the stage will be set to fight top contenders and then a title. We know nothing of his stamina, punch resistance, dedication etc. He looks the part so far but he’s a couple years from being a finished product.
If they want to put him in dangerous fights, make them money fights for the kid. Ituama versus Adeleye, Whyte, Joyce, Del boy or Wardley would sell out over here...and that's the order I'd fight them. Build him up, clean out his country, move on up...
It’s far too early for Itauma to even think of Kabayel or Parker fights, there are plenty building fights out there on the British scene alone and then plenty lower level foreign fights out there for him without jumping straight into fights with legit contenders.
He has no business in the ring with the likes of Parker or Kabayel as of yet; his promoters will talk a big game and try and big him up, and I can't blame them for that. However, you can only judge one's intentions by their actions not their words, and the opposition they choose for Itauma reflects the level they currently feel safe matching him at.
Thinking about it another way: Throwing Itauma in with Kabayel about now is probably equivalent to throwing Dubois in with Joyce was back in 2020 - prospect vs contender with thin resume... And the outcome would likely be the same - a one-sided schooling. In hindsight it didn't necessarily do Dubois any harm - he came back well from it to become one of the top guys in the division. Having said that... In hindsight, we also know Dubois was capable of that (because he did it) where at the time plenty were writing him off. Let's say Itauma fights someone like Kabayel and loses... It's not necessarily all over, and it might even be good to break him in and get rid of any idea of keeping the zero as long as possible - equally, if he's not destined to make it then it could be that future earnings as a protected fighter could've been better than taking a fight that risky at this stage. Who knows!
Belt holders & Kabaye/Parker/Fury i would keep Itauma away from for now.Anyone else i think he has a great chance of winning.
