I saw him wincing in pain multiple times about 1 minute before he got stopped, he definitely had an injury along with being gassed out.

 

He didn’t take much punishment.

I noticed Itauma slowing down as early as the 3rd round. I also saw him taking in deep breaths after the 1st round. By the the 6th round, his handspeed was slowing. I just didn't expect him to gas this badly.

Fundamentally, Itauma's defense is not very good either. He uses mostly head movement and reaction speed instead of keeping his hands up. Without stamina, his defense got extremely leaking.

Fighters are going to see this and keep trying to drag him into deep waters and take him out.
