Honestly, it wasn't even about Hrgovic's stamina. He barely threw sometimes. It was the chin and the inexperience / bad stamina of Itauma. Hrgovic just stood there getting pieced up in round 8. Didn't throw a single punch until the last 30 seconds.

 

Itauma will learn from this. Competition for him is bleak though. fury usyk joshua are finished and theres no great fighters out there to build a legacy, that will hurt him more than this loss tonight mark my words.. There wont be a passing of the torch for him like when joshua beat wladimir klitschko.

 

Hrgovic is not better he was tougher

 

Itauma was immensely impressive early on, and most fighters would be done for midway through. As I said before the fight: the shots Hrgovic took from Zhang, Dubois, Adeleye would kill most men. Adeleye especially unloaded all out combination like Filip was a punching bag and he just walked back to his corner. Inhuman.

 

He just lost to Hrgovic in the exact manner I expected him to lose in. That can’t make him the best heavyweight can it? I won £600 on that. He fought someone who could take his punches and could outlast him down the stretch. All this excuse making is embarrassing

 

Lewis had a lot of good wins to make the case he was the number one, even with a loss. Itauma has literally no notable wins to make that case.

And Williams was ‘better’ than Tyson IN 2004 yes.

 

Moses, accustomed to everyone getting knocked down by his serves, was throwing Hrgovic for all he was worth. However, he didn't learn the lesson that he was fighting a guy who survived Zhang's clean blows...
And he can also respond.
Filip showed character, strength, and a gift. This God-given strength also helped him. In fact, it saved him.
But if you want to fight against such a rock, you have to remember that this rock might prove too hard.
A beautiful story. Finally, an underrated guy who had it tough the whole time won what was his. I want a rematch with DD with fair judging, but a fight with Agit as a unification would be great. I don't like Sanchez in this equation.
And Moses is extremely good offensively. He needs to learn his lesson. However, I'm glad that the euphoria surrounding him in the community is subsiding a bit. It might even help him, as people were already putting him next to Ali.

 

What a bold gameplan by Hrgovic. Count on his chin and being careful to get Ituama into deep waters, count on stamina being Ituama's issued, then pour it on once Ituama is tired and see if he can end it.

Also props to Abel Sanchez because it was clear he is working of Filip's offense. It was far more varied when he opened up. Sweet outside sharp outside angle and good shots put together at times.

 

Itauma actually proved MORE to me tonight than all his other fights combined, even though he lost. He's NOT packing glass, and he EMPTIED his own gastank going for the KO.

Hrgo executed his game plan - took the kitchen sink from Itauma and drowned him in deep waters late; and he gave huge credit to Moses in the post-fight interview
