My point is just because your'e the most talented and athletic does not necessarily mean the best.

Most talented and athletic for sure - skilled I'm not 100% sure as his shots got pretty ragged later and he kept swinging for the fences which is not that skilled IMO. But deffo better than best, it's clear at this point in his career he couldn't execute to be the best tonight.

 

why did he get so bad? Hrgovic didn't hit him much.

 

I don't want to hear anyone hating on Itauma the man just left on a stretcher he literally gave everything he had in the ring until he couldn't stand no more.

Give the young man respect and wish him well for a speed recovery.

All credit to Hrgovic being the toughest Heavyweight of the modern era and full props for his win.

But I hope everything is ok with Itauma and my prays are with him tonight.

I thought this fight was gonna be closer to 50/50 but ended yo being one way traffic. Moses piecing up Hrgovic, I'd never seen Filip so shelled up and weary to counter or attack.

Compare that to how filip fought Dubois, he was piecing up Dubois with confidence.

I think I heard Warren say Itauma somehow injured his leg, possibly when he collapsed against the ropes... though his leg is taped up in any way in that video of him on the stretcher so, who knows....

He took some terrible blows. Don't blame it all on fatigue. Even in one of the early rounds, when Filip landed an exchange and improved slightly, it was clear that it was making an impression on Itauma.
In the final stages, he started landing some really powerful shots in the exchanges, and not everyone is named Hrgovic.
His body didn't react as if he were "exhausted" but rather as if he were severely injured by the blows.

I also tried to post a bit on the forum during the fight so I didn't focus on what was on screen during breaks, but from what I noticed, they didn't show much of Filip's powerful shots, mainly showing what he was landing from Moses. This is a tactic, but also a mistake. I suspect that good slow-motion replays could clearly show some why Itauma completely lost control so quickly. When the exchanges started, he landed some really clean punches.
Suggesting he has no jaw is also a huge exaggeration. There's no one like Filip, but in that respect, he's probably been number one for years, which I also wrote about.

It wasn't just fatigue. The blows made his legs feel like noodles. Perhaps replays of those blows will still be available somewhere, although since the official broadcast was so opaque, it could be a different story.

 

Usyk is not hrgovic. Taking all those shots might not have been possible for usyk. Riling itauma up like hrgovic did would not have quite been usyk's style.
So there is a chance that the usyk who looked extremely bad against verhoeven might have been ko'ed by itauma. Not necessarily over 50% but a chance nonetheless..
