Yes, Moses is blessed with great physical offensive attributes and skills but as Hrgovic said it's not about what you can give it's about what you can take and even after this humbling and sobering defeat his chin still hasn't been tested by a truly elite puncher. One shot from that kind of power can change and ruin entire careers and put an end to hype in the blink of an eye

Hrgovic hits pretty hard but how many times did he actually catch Moses clean with his best shots and full power/full leverage right hands and on the occasions he did Moses looked visibly uncomfortable.

What's going to happen when Big Bang, Dubois, AJ, Fabio, Gassiev etc. type punchers and other huge punching future HWs yet to emerge crack him flush on the chin with their biggest shots? I didn't see anything last night to suggest he can withstand savage HW power. If Hrgovic hit like some of those guys Queensberry wouldn't have dared put him in with him yet

Hrgovic would outwork Sanchez, and Sanchez's power and counterpunching wouldn't affect Hrgovic. People forget that Hrgovic throws a lot of punches. Since his game plan was to tire out Itauma, he didn't throw as much as he normally does, but watch his fights with Joyce, Allen, and Adeleye; he is a volume puncher. Sanchez is good, though, but he just wouldn't be active enough to win a decision over Hrgovic.

Yes, Sanchez is a very good fighter and a bad stylistic match up for some other fighters but Hrgovic is a very good fighter and the toughest fighter in the division and one of the toughest ever.

Stylistically Moses was a very bad match up for Hrgovic. Hence why Queensberry was willing to put him in with Hrgovic and almost everyone had Moses beating him and most via early stoppage but Hrgovic only has one loss to the #2 ranked HW in the world and he was more than holding his own vs him until he got stopped on cuts and I think Hrgovic beats almost all the other HWs or is at least 50-50 against all of them or at worst 40-60

Usyk is soon to turn 40, is well past his best and is on the way out

Belly, AJ and The Dosser are all past their beat too and on the way out

That just leaves Dubois and Kabayel and those are 50-50 match ups for me with maybe Kabayel being 40-60 in Kabayel's favour

Hrgovic would be too much for Fabio and they aren't going to stick Moses back in with him anytime soon unless they want to risk ruining his career

His biggest problem is probably going to be his chin eventually cracking at some stage due to the ridiculous amount of flush bombs he's taken from murderous punchers and legit bangers

@CST80 where can I find your pre-fight prediction? I think it is worth reading now, like were some others (Anderson-Bakole was spot on, as well as AJ and Dubois fights when they suffered their 1st loss). And what did you expect in the Torrez-Sanchez fight?

Itauma-Hrgovic could be the upset of the year. I was wrong in my prediction, I was absolutely convinced Itauma would win. Congrats to Hrgovic, his post fight comments were beautiful, with yesterday's victory the Croatian has made boxing history.

If it were any other fighter, I might be more optimistic about their future. But Itauma as I've mentioned on here in the past, I've never liked the way he reacted to being punched and it's clear that his handlers weren't nearly as confident in him as his hypers were. They clearly knew what I suspected, that he's a 6 round fighter with questionable whiskers and confidence issues. So in spite of all of the ego bolstering nonsense and hard selling of him to the public, they managed him very carefully. They thought Hrgovic was a gamble that was going to pay off as well. After all, he couldn't stop Adeleye when Wardley did. He also almost went the distance with McKean while Itauma took him out in 1. They also most likely thought Itauma could crack his chin when others failed. Well, they gambled and it backfired magnificently! So from here on out, they and Itauma will be incredibly risk averse. So most likely they'll put him back in there with some tailor made soft touches with soft chins. Might put him in with some undefeated unproven bum like Prenga. Get him a strength and conditioning coach, think they have everything figured out. Challenge someone with good whiskers who can't punch for ****. He'll stink out the joint with a boring 12 round decision. Then they'll fling him in there with with a proven fighter with a punch and he'll **** the bed again, because he'll play it too safe, with nightmares of Hrgybear dancing in his head, and get KTFO in the 11th or 12th, because the nervous energy of going deep into another fight will drain his gas tank anyway. I would be more optimistic if he was as much of a moron as Dubois is, with a devil may care temperament. While Itauma isn't very bright either, he's self aware enough for self doubt to dig its claws it, and not let go. His disposition reeks of underlying insecurities.

Feels a bit harsh as it's not really his fault on how he's being managed, but I get what you're saying. I do hope he springs back, and even if he isn't the next "big thing" that he at least becomes an exciting contender in the division.

The Itauma fans on this board are ridiculous.. the copage & damage control is off the charts here.. ya'll bought into the ridiculous Brit media hype yet again..

Itauma is talented yes but he was unproven against anyone with a pulse.. the kid got old manned there are no excuses for his loss.. he threw the kitchen sink & it broke him.. Hrgovic broke him.. let that sink in.. he was exhausted because hrgovic' durability & inability to wilt was insurmountable for him.. & it was a legit KO too.. because he landed a brutal right hand as Itauma was on the ropes that absolutely scrambled his senses..

So who cares if he supposedly won every round.. all that matters in 100m sprint is the finish line not who was winning 10 feet before it.. just cope & stop embarrassing yourselves further.

My NHL team was looking great after the 2nd period. Before they could no longer continue and were behind a quarter of the way into the last period umable to walk. If only the game went 2 periods we would have won. But we didn't. We were also about to get destroyed in the number of goals we conceded.

Yeah. Great logic Itauma fans. Not being able to fight losing by being gassed and about to get knocked out not in round 12. But in round 9.

I've had a very stressful last few months personally and haven't been nearly as active, so there's no one post where I lay out why Hrgovic will win like I usually do. But I pieced together several different posts laying out why I picked Hrgovic.

Win means nothing, but even then Wach took plenty of flush shots in the first round.

Mezencev was massacred in similar fashion a decade ago by that girlfriend beater Tom Schwarz, the guy is a total scrub, not close to an impressive win. So yes, he's fast, has decent foot work and has solid reflexes, has a sharp mouse trap like right hook and a fast straight left. But he realistically hasn't been put in the ring with anyone who poses even a slightest challenge to him, certainly no one who is a legitimate threat that isn't shot to grim death or a total bum. So what happens when he gets in the ring with someone who he can't take out in 2 rounds? Will he still be just as fast in the 6th, if someone forces him into a fight and he starts expending energy? I have a sneaking suspicion that his power doesn't last long, after all, he was teeing off at will and landing flush on both Dovbyshchenko and Espindola well into the 5h and 6th, and neither of them looked close to going down. So yeah, I think when he gets tired, he has a tendency to drop his hands, stand directly in front of his opponents, chin up in the air, begging for a counter right hook. The first opponent that's durable with good timing will exploit that viciously.

As much **** as I've given Filip over the years, it's because I've wanted to see this version. That's the kind of passion and spitefulness that he's been missing. Sure, he'll have to be a bit more circumspect against Itauma, but if he can back him into the corner effectively and I think he can. Itauma will mentally crumble in record time.

Absolutely not and I've been sending up the warning flag for the last year or so, he's not the one, and he's not going to part the Red Sea. He's yet to face a puncher, yet to face someone with a truly amazing chin who isn't shot the absolute bits. Franklin is better at spoiling and avoiding clean shots than actually having a great chin. He's being protected for a reason, he also got out of those fights for a reason. He's a dim bulb with the personality of a mollusk, who has a crappy gas tank. He was already starting to huff and puff against Franklin. It's probably a damn good thing that he avoided Sanchez, because he'd probably got slept just like Torrez. Hrgovic if he doesn't get cut, and fights like he fought against Allen, is going to mangle Moses.

I'm not ruling out a quickie British stoppage myself, but when I step back, look at the big picture, taking everything into consideration. I don't think we'll be seeing Filip blasted out of there with relative ease. It'll either go the distance, Filip will be slowly broken down and stopped mid to late or Itauma gasses out, and his hereditary glass chin gets exposed. Because the way I look at it, it's not like Filip has had a long grueling career. He's been a pro for 9 years, half of that time he was taking on light touches that he was blasting out of there in a round or two. Just like Itauma, stopping all but 2 of his first 14 opponents. Unlike he got in there with old man Zhang, which he did enough to eke out. Then the foul filled Dubois mugging occured, but aside from one bad round against Adeleye, it's been smooth sailing since. Also we must take into consideration, his head not being in it early on, his father dying and bad trainers. Since getting with Abel Sanchez, he's looked like a super determined absolute killer. So if he brings that offense is the best defense mentality, this could be a bumpy ride for the chosen one. One thing for sure, I want to see a good competitive all out war and because I'm not in the mood for a blowout.
