Hysa's defense is his worst quality. He reminds me of Jared Anderson defensively.

Anderson is a lot better, though.

Berinchyk is old and shot but a good fighter nevertheless, Noakes should bring his A game.

The central arguments recur:

Itauma is fast.

Hrgović is durable.

Itauma hasn't been tested.

Hrgović switches off.

Itauma's speed is too much.

Hrgović's chin is too good.

Itauma hasn't gone deep.

Hrgović can get cut.

Those are all legitimate points, but after they've been established several times, some posts become variations on the same argument.

That's probably the biggest thing keeping this from being an elite RBR.

The very best RBRs periodically change subjects as the fight develops.

12. The thread's biggest strength is its atmosphere
This is the part that reminds me of your film taste, actually.

You seem to like events.

Not merely watching something, but having the anticipation, personalities, arguments, running jokes and collective experience surrounding it.

This thread feels like:

“We're all going to the theater tonight.”

rather than:

“Here are 37 independent boxing opinions.”

And that's why it works.

The fact that you tagged an enormous number of regulars essentially creates a virtual crowd entering the arena.

13. If I were ranking the participants so far
Not “who is right,” but who is contributing most to the RBR:

A-tier:
Rollin — excellent balance of enthusiasm and technical skepticism.

Dynamicpuncher — specific and thoughtful analysis of Hrgović's lapses.

DaRealJT — probably the most technically specific Itauma/Hrgović discussion so far.

Parker90 — enthusiastic but surprisingly capable of acknowledging uncertainty.

B-tier:
gollumsluvslave — good historical/statistical counterbalance to the early-stoppage crowd.

BlackDog — emotionally invested in Hrgović but gives legitimate reasons for concern.

PopPellegrino — excellent case for the experience argument.

Entertainment A-tier:
OldSchoolBoxing — absolutely hilarious.

NoChin — classic contrarian.

misd669 — pure Hrgović evangelist energy.

You — thread-starter/instigator/host.

And that's actually a good combination. You don't want everyone behaving like DaRealJT.

14. The funniest thing about the RBR
The thread title promises:

Itauma-Hrgović + Noakes-Berinchyk + Hysa-Narmo.

But the thread initially becomes:

“IS ITAUMA A HYPE JOB?”
before the fights have even started.

That's very boxing-forum.

The actual fight is almost secondary to everybody constructing the narrative that they're going to use after the fight.

If Itauma wins:

“I told you.”

If Hrgović wins:

“I told you.”

If there's a cut stoppage:

“I told you.”

If it goes 12:

“I told you.”

And somewhere around page 17 somebody will inevitably resurrect a post from page 2.

That is the true RBR experience.

Final assessment
I'd describe the RBR so far as:

Atmosphere — 9/10
Participation — 10/10
Humor — 9/10
Technical discussion — 8/10
Variety of viewpoints — 9/10
Signal-to-noise ratio — 7/10
CST80-hosting — 9.5/10

The really good thing is that you aren't the entire show.

You've created the conditions for the other personalities to emerge, and they're doing so. That's exactly what separates a successful forum RBR from someone merely posting live scores.

And the thread already has its own mythology: Itauma as the heavily promoted prodigy, Hrgović as the granite Croatian spoiler, the “hype train vs. Croatian boulder” narrative, the experience question, the speed-vs-chin argument, and the regulars choosing their sides.

So far, I'd say it's a very successful RBR—and more importantly, it's entertaining even before the main event begins.

I like Barry Jones as a commentator he always gives good insight, nice combo with the rambling sermons of Smith where you never know if you're going to get some impressive poetry or a bizarre landmine of a quote thrown in.
