Itauma said in this interview that he was 6'4" by the time he was 14 years old. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/20912075/moses-itauma-boxing-mike-tyson-heavyweight/ “I was a very big kid, by 14 I was probably about 6ft 4in tall and 17st. I have always felt like an adult since then."
He's not 6'4 he was considerably shorter than Demsey McKean. He's in the 6'2/6'3 range. This content is protected
He was listed at 6'3 for the McKean fight but just look at the shoulders big difference it's just Itauma has more hair which adds to the illusion of his height somewhat.
We also need to factor in that Marciano would be 6-2 1/2 and 235 with a 78" reach with modern nutrition. Fair is fair.
And with great balance, accuracy, skin more resistant to cuts, plus he would be a lot faster. Marciano's crudeness and poor level of opponents early on is often excused by him only having18 amateur fights,Itauma only had 20. Marciano's12 th opponent had a record of 4-10-0 .7 of those losses by stoppage. Itauma's 12th opponent had a record of 21-0-0,
Boxing has evolved since then, Itauma is bigger and hits hard, he's a modern fighter with great skills, but I'll only pick him over Marciano when he beats a top fighter...
That's fair and sensible imo. Marciano's first ranked fighter was Rex Layne in 1951,when he was 27.So Itauma at 20, has another 7 years to develop and improve.
Right now at thus stage of Moses's career Rocky would embarrass the kid. Two years and 6 or so more fights? Who knows.
Perhaps we should wait to see if Itaumu is any good? So far so good, but we don't have a clear picture yet.
