Mosley - A shot fighter who came back for 1 big fight

I recall earlier in Tyson's career Cus D'Amato stated that a supposed 'shot' fighter can come back for the 1 big fight.

Against Mayorga Mosley looked jaded, his timing was out and I would define him at that time as 'shot'.

Against Margerito he was a revelation. This accords with Cus's quote. I then ask at his age how will he perform in his next fight?

If I was PBF I would be rushing with a contract.

I dont think you could tell from the Mayorga fight that he was shot, yes he wasnt at his best, but everytime a fighter doesnt look his best, does this mean that he is shot?

Mosley never looked that good at 154, but at 147 he always looked pretty well, check both vargas fights and he doesnt look as well as he did against collazo

Mosley is SHOT, but he can still handle himself, at his peak there was NOT a single guy around any of his weight classes that possesed the kind of speed he had, he is still fast but nothing compared to his early days, he has looked very good against big guys with bad defense who can't keep up with him (Vargas, Mayo, Margo) but a quick slickster like PBF would comfartably beat this version of Mosley, hell he got outboxxed by Cotto, and was having problem with Collozo's speed early before before Collozo hurt his hand. That being said there aren't many around that can beat him but he is far from what he was in his hey-day.

In the 2nd vargas fight he looked much better than he did against Collazo. He has actually fought better Comp at 154 than he has at 147, that is why he hasn't looked as good.

He is no where near as good now as he was in 2000, if not shot than he isn't too far away IMO.

I dont think Mosley is shot by any means. Maybe past his best days would better explain Mosley's state as of today!:good

When fighters stuggle with or lose to fighters they would've KO'd at thier peak, I consider them shot. SSM will always look good with slower crude fighters but a good boxer with speed would trouble him. Estrada, Cruz, Collazo, and even Cotto would not be able to finish a fight with a peak Mosley.

Mosley isn't shot IMO..He is the #1 welterweight in the world...He looked good against Tony and not good against Mayorga cuz Mayorga doesn't walk in a straight line and is very awkward whereTony has 1 fight game..COME FORWARD!

I understand what you're saying. I guess we have a different definition of shot...When I think of shot, I think of fighters who cant do **** anymore. Examples of being shot in my book are fighters like Roy Jones Jr., Luis Castillo, Arturo Gatti (before he retired to the hands of Gomez:lol:), Erick Morales. They were once good but they cant replicate a good performance they had years ago. I guess its to up to one's opinion or definition of shot.

The reason I say Shane isnt shot because of his performance...Cant to many "shot" fighters do what Shane did, let along KO a guy who has never been KO'ed before.

    These "shot" threads are tiresome.

    Antwun Echols is shot.

Cosme Rivera is shot, and if he wasn't, he is now.

    Julio Gonzalez is shot.

Kevin Kelley isn't just shot, he's machine gunned.

Mayorga can take punches he sees coming. Under his father, Shane no longer threw combos. It had nothing to do with being shot, it had to do with being wary of Mayo's crazy haymakers, and not having the natural power at 154 to one-shot him.

Floyd isn't afraid of Shane. But he is playing the Pacquiao sweepstakes, and sees just enough risk that he isn't trying to cash his chips twice. That should be enough to convince anyone that Shane isn't anything close to "shot". If he was, Floyd would be all over him like a cheap suit.

    Jesus.

Mosely didn't look great against Mayorga because Mayorga is a 154 lb'er.
