No, not really. He's treated like most major celebrities here for sure, but being treated like a celebrity doesn't mean that the stories are twisted to shed a favorable light on you. He got a lot of flak for his affairs, for running in congress. For sure he's very loved as a boxer and a hero to a lot of Pinoy's, but that doesn't mean he's made out to be some saint by the press. When he screws up, it gets a lot of press as well and he gets flak for it.

Honestly, I'm still surprised that people actually believe that he's so loved here in the Philippines that he might actually win if he ran for president.

 

MOTHER ****ER! How the **** do you expect me to watch filipino TV? Manny's from a 3rd world country that is the size of Vermont. They have Manny who is considered a national treasure b/c of how well he's done and the kind of global attention his success brings to their country.

Of course they are going to support him. That's why most cats from MI support Floyd and everything he does. I'm sure that local media outlets in MI give Floyd a lot of props for doing work around the area than any other state in the US.. Most support their own.
