The Forrest's defeats just seem to kill Mosley. He lost his spark, his vigour, and electricity. Before then he was great to watch. Technically, his style hasn't changed much since those first fights at Welterweight but he has sent me to sleep in every fight I've seen of him since then. Maybe it's just me, but I don't find a fighter pawing the jab for twelve rounds - with the odd right hand thrown in - exciting or worthy of the name 'sugar'. He may get the knockouts eventually with the constant in-the-pocket strategy but for I find someone like De La Hoya far more enjoyable to watch with his more intelligent classical boxing style.
No. Mosley did well in that fight but he only sparkled intermittently before reverting back to tedium.
I don't think so. To me he's still one of the more entertaining fighters out there, he always comes to fights. He never utilizes his speed as much as he should at the higher weights, he never jabs other than a range finder, he just stands at mid range and fires combinations. To me thats fun to watch. I think his timing was off last night, probably due to age. Also he struggled to gain any rhythm with Mayorga being so wild and awkward and it got messy.
Ahem...time to teach you a little about the fine art. First of all styles make fights and Mayorga's style is unique to say the least. Second of all "Sugar" is 37 years old and has had many many "wars". 50 total fights against good compettion. Age is a big factor, just ask JC Chavez. Any more questions? NO? Okay...
. Didn't ask you any questions so erm...okay He was boring in Winky fights as well IMO, when he was far from shot. As the guy above said, each to their own, but I find him dull even though in theory he shouldn't be as he neglects boxing in favour of engaging. Usually a recipe for an exciting fight.
I agree De La Hoya is dull when he gasses. He stands there like a statue. But when he doesn't tire himself due to the big occasion he is good to watch. His performance against Mayorga was a delight to watch cause he had the ability to stand off Mayorga and dismantle him with technical boxing. It's a bit more clinical and concise than Mosley. Mosley is just a bit too full on with the pawing jab and right hand in-the-pocket style.
