To answer the question; IMV, Mayweather retired because of the constant mocking, insults, and generally disrespect he was getting from the fight media and fans. This all revealed itself when Floyd was alternately crying and giving away watches. You have to be as good as he is and get hated on as much as he does to know how penetratingly negative #1 can be. People would say they hated him because of who he is as a person on a constant basis. That's some painful **** for any human being, and Floyd is obviously a sensitive mother****er. The hate became this 'thing.' It was out of control.

 

I believe Gayweather retired because of the legitimate competition at 147.

 

Floyd probably saw that he entered his fourth weight class, saw no challenge, and retired. He saw AM as a boring fighter and the rest of the WW's as inferior fighters who he would dominate. None of the ww's have separated themselves from the pack. None of them could light his fire, and now Floyd is waiting for one of the WW's to emerge as dominant so he could dominate them. None of the ww's has dominated 147 since he left.

he will be back...now tell me one of those guys who can beat him....I love how people say he left cuz he was scared of any of those guys...he has fougth from 130 to 147 and won 5 titles...when he comes back he will beat pac who is a better fighter than all of them...then hopefully he will have an easy win vs margo if he can keep draining hinself and never try another weight

 

When you have fought big fight after big fight, you are looking for super fights, money fights...not fights where he feels he has to prove himself all over again. Floyd is a proven fighter, and a great champion. It's time that the other ww's proved they are on his level, and that means fighting each other. Hearns and Leonard cleaned out 147, and proved that they were the two best ww's of the world when they fought each other. Floyd needs that kind of challenge.

In a sense what you're saying is correct, but these guys are only an ingredient. They're faceless and nameless to Floyd. They might as well be anybody. It's all emotional nonsense at a certain point. Mayweather is a confused guy these days. He's been hurting. Probably cying alot.
