Yeah, Cotto is always ducking guys like Nuzhnenko to fight guys like Pacquiao and Mosley and other actual champions.

    That's why he's fighting Foreman.

I don't think this really counts as being stripped, he did lose his last fight so... But Senchenwho? Whomever that non-existent eurobum is shouldn't have the belt.

Nuzhnenko was unbeaten at the time. I see no difference between him and Foreman except the latter has the belt now. So you're right. Ducking is ducking. :good

...Right...so, ....how the living, breathing, mother****ing ****ity shit**** is this a duck again? Who was asking for this fight? Why does he deserve a fight with Cotto above Foreman, Clottey, Pacquiao and everyone else?

Nah its cool, Berto can now collect trinkets and unify, so after Cotto takes care of Foreman they can fight for Berto's titles at 147.

Hey I'm fine with Cotto not fighting largely unknown fighter. But discussion was about how Senchenko got a title. And truth is it is because Cotto never fought mandatory and linear ignored interim champ.

He's never been stripped of a title and he lost both of his welterweight titles in the ring. So, when was this guy Cotto's mandatory and how did he duck him and still have the title until losing it in the ring? Are you certain he was an Interim champion? Do you have a source? Are you sure it wasn't while Shane was WBA champion instead of Cotto? I'm sorry, I don't see any place where you could validly use the D-word here.

****. Ordinary human beings cannot possibly keep up with this stuff given the number of divisions/titles and mandatories. I've never even heard of the guy until now. And Cotto was ducking him?

This is why I'm dubious about the ducking claim. I believe Cotto has fought 16 straight title fights in two divisions now and is going for his seventeenth straight in a third division. Never once stripped of a title. Vacated only once to go for a higher weight for his health. Doesn't sound like a typical ducker to me.

Cotto held the title between December 2006 and July 2008. It's easy to check on boxrec that Nuzhnenko fought Klose in December 2007 for interim title. I doubt WBA would call it an interim title fight if Nuzhnenko wasn't mandatory.

Even if he was mandatory, did he push for the fight? Seriously? Why wasn't it enforced? I can see Arum not wanting the fight for monetary reasons, but that is about it.

And the ABC's only think about MONEY. If Cotto could make more fighting someone else, THAT is who they wanted him to fight.

If you want to use boxrec as a source and it's so easy to check, please note that nowhere on that page does it even use the word "interim"; not on either of this man's pages at boxrec. There's an 'Inter-Continental' title he fought for in December of 2007, but it does not say interim. If he was the mandatory for the WBA and Cotto ducked him, the WBA itself must not have known about it or excused him to fight people who are relevant and at the top?
