Absolutely, he got beat to the punch but never underestimated Cotto's strength or Championship quality, just that he was confident in his ability and unfazed by Cotto's sour jokes and allegations that he would knock him out, hurt him to the body with his signature left hook or that he never needed roids to perform... All of that was just a psy war which didn't work... Like you said and most don't see, Shane hurt Cotto but could not finish him, neither could Cotto like he did to Judah in the end stretch of their June fight, won the fight by 7 rounds to 5 the same way he was a slight favourite prior to the fight, we can't really say that he out-punched Shane but got the nod cause that fight between him and another young, undefeated welter like Mayweather or Hatton would be a bigger draw, yes.
