But Shane right now is the top welter, so Cotto has to follow him.

Shane is the recognized #1 WW right now. Period. He beat the ****in stuffing out of Margarito, after KOing Mayorga. Cotto, meanwhile had his face put through a meatgrinder last time we saw him. And now that he is about to beat some British bum for (still yet another) vacated title... he should go to Shane.

Besides, Cotto needs Shane more than Shane needs Cotto.

That's why it wa Cotto semi-dazed from a single punch from round 10 to 12.

It really doesn't matter where the fight is, it could be in Jin Mosley's kitchen and the crowd would still be pro-Cotto, Mosley just doesn't have a big fanbase, never did and he never will

So, Polymath, in your opinion it was perfectly fine for Cotto to run away from Mosely because he felt he was so far ahead on the scorecards. Let me ask, was it also perfectly fine for Oscar to run from Tito in their fight in 99?

I just ask because I've seen plenty of Puerto Ricans rip Oscar apart for running away from their golden boy, Tito, but never once see the irony while using the same exact reasoning for what Cotto did against Mosely in that fight. Ditto for UK fight fans who scream bloody murder about how Ricky was given unfair treatment by Joe Cortez (something I kind of agree with, by the way) yet deny up and down that Ricky was given PREFERENTIAL treatment by the ref in his hometown cooking fight against Lazcano.

"Oh, the ref screwed Ricky in Vegas!!!!"

"Possibly, but wouldn't you have to admit the ref helped Ricky out in Manchester?"

"**** No! Only ONNNNNNNE RICKY HATTON!!!!!"

If you're gonna' hurl stones from the porch of a glass house, don't get all pissy when someone throws a few back your way.

    None of that ****ing matters.

Shane is the champ. He should be the one dictating, regardless of who has the most fans. You people kill me. Since when is that "fan support bull****" supposed to really matter?

When determining the most profitable venue for a prize fight.....any clown knows that if you can get a full stadium in MSG that you would take that over a less packed arena in LA or Vegas

the fact is where ever they fight the crowd will be pro-Cotto, so what's the point of not wanting to fight in MSG, at least this way the house will he packed

    Damn, what a dumb question:patsch
