People will say this is an excuse after the fight, but I'm saying it before and will bump this after the fight is done. If Mayweather beats Mosley, it shouldn't be considered more impressive then if he'd beaten Clottey, Margarito, Berto etc..

Mosley just isn't a great fighter anymore.

I've always been a Mosley fan because if his style and attitude outside the ring but it's plain to me that in recent years, we have seen a huge decline in his ability.

He looked decent against Collazo but was struggling until Collazo hurt his hand and from that point, Mosley took over but it was not an easy fight. By doing the simple things, Collazo managed to puzzle Mosley, though he showed he could adapt well. The fight against Mayorga was horrible and Mosley looked poor until the 12th round. In the Cotto fight, Mosley was outjabbed, outboxed and many wrote him off after the fight.

The only other recent fight to mention? Margarito. It was obviously impressive but Margarito wasn't there that night, being over friendly and he didn't fight with any ferocity. He looked like a man who had given up and, assuming he had cheated in the past, maybe he knew he couldn't win? There is a question mark over Margarito's victories which also means there are questions about Margarito as a fighter. I think we all agree that on that night against Mosley, he did not look like a top 10 welterweight.

The positive thing for me, as a Mosley fan, is Richardson. I don't think Mosley would have won as convincingly under his dad against Margo and Richardson is a good enough strategist to help Mosley disrupt Mayweather.

He still has good speed and power but his body and foot movement is not what is was. I just don't see it being a close fight once Mayweather finds his rhythm.

    Mayweather UD12 (117-111)

Why not? This version of Mosley beat the dog**** out of Margarito. He was also heavily favored against Berto and almost assuredly would beat Clottey. Mosley is certainly past his best, but he's still one of the best fighters the sport, let alone the division.

Mosley is considered the number one welter in the world but hes not in his prime and hasnt been since Forrest took his "0" and at 38 years old and coming of from almost one year and a half of inactivity its hard to know how much he has left.

Shane beat the **** out of this scumbag. How would a win over him be more impressive?

Id say Forrest beat a Prime Mosley twice. Mosely wasn't in his prime when he lost to Wright and Cotto.

I think Berto would have put up a very good fight. I don't think a win is too unrealistic either, despite how they looked against Collazo. Mosley just may have struggled with the guys speed and combinations.

There's nothing in Mosley's recent history, outside of the disputed Margarito fight, that indicates it would have been one sided.

Clottey is probably a bad styles match up for Mosley, but I think he does better against most welterweights. I'd imagine Clottey would give Mayweather a tougher fight and if both men fought Cotto, Williams and Berto, I think Clottey would do better than Mosley.

I think Mosley is past his prime, but with Richardson and Hopkins to help him, his best may yet still come.

I think that's his only chance, personally.

He needs a PERFECT strategy to win. I'm glad his team are talking about versatility because otherwise he'd just get figured out in no time. Even with Sir Alex Ferguson, Burnley wouldn't beat Barcelona though.

Sadly, I think the tactics Richardson gives Mayweather, will make it a stinker.

I think almost your entire argument is based off of your own hypothetical scenarios. The exception would be your comment about Margo being a more impressive win. That just blatantly ignores reality. Nobody ranks Clottey or Berto ahead of Mosley. Nobody except you would be more impressed with Mayweather beating either of those two instead of Mosley. However, things can change. Maybe Mayweather beats the **** out of Mosley and Berto looks great against Quintana. Regardless, as of this moment, Mosley is the biggest threat out there Mayweather at WW besides Pac.

Yes, I agree that he isn't as fast as he once was but I think he's benefitted greatly from collaborating with Bernard Hopkins and , as a result, has become a smarter trainer and a more efficient fighter overall.

  15. When Mosley fans said Shane was better than Floyd, Floyd fans were quick to point out that Mosley only beat Margarito without his "secret weapon" and the win was meaningless.

When Mosley is Floyd's opponent, Floyd fans say Mosley is the top Welterweight and is coming off a great win.

    Irony?
