How many times did Margarito hit him flush? Or Collazo? And wouldn't you agree that both these guys are currently way more seasoned than Kirkland? I love how everyone uses the Mayorga fight to dump all over Shane's technical skill. I saw that fight being an ugly one from miles away, for various reasons.

It's not a function of Shane being a defensive wizard, so much as Kirkland being way, way too raw at this point and with his current style to catch and wear down this caliber of fighter.

Kirkland at this stage is beter then Collazo and maybe even Margo who looks wash up without the pads. I just see him winning thats all. He is a big 154 pounder who may not stay there too long. Shane's best fight weight is at 147. He bites a bit too much when he moves up for my taste.

Agreed that Shane's best weight is 147.

I actually like Kirkland quite a bit. But I think his people know he's still a work in progress.

The way he walked through a solid contender in Julio was an impressive step forward.

Joker, if they were to fight tomorrow as you say to prove your point, Mosley by late stoppage. Kirkland is still too green. I mentioned this before, who is Julio. What power did he have or HBO lead people to think? The 154 division moves fighters up in rank much faster than I believe any other division. Mayorga would make anyone and especially Mosley look bad, but Mosley caught him at the end. Let's see Kirkland in with Mayorga and then we can all talk about progress with Kirkland. Mosley has his own firepower, speed, footwork, and more importantly experience for Kirkland.

If you think that Mayorga beats kirkland then maybe you should use my name on your avatar. Maryorga has lost every big fight with the execption of the Forrest fights. Collazo went 12 rounds with Shane. Cruz and Estrada also went 10 rounds with Shane prior to that. No way does Shane kill Kirkland. If you wanna give him a chance to win then ok, maybe by SD, but I just dont see him pulling out the win.

Funny thing is, I think Kirkland would look better against Mayorga than Shane did. Shane wanted to land the perfect one-shot KO punch, and when he didn't find it early, went through his usual combination of minor freak out plus crap advice from Jack. When he finally started focusing on landing what was there for him, the KO came.

Kirkland on the other hand would just bulldog into Mayorga from jump and have him broken down and ready to go inside of 8. I'd like to see HBO push for this fight within the next year, but of course it depends in whether or not Mayorga will be willing to be a stepping stone.

He also burned some bridges backing out of the Angulo fight.

Classic example of why A>B>C has no place in boxing. Kirkland blasting Mayorga has zero bearing on his chances against Mosley.

Mosley destroys him. You need a great jab to beat Mosley. Kirkland does not have a great jab. If you fight Mosley, you will lose.

Easy with the coffee, I did not say Mayorga would beat Kirkland. I actually like your avatar. I meant the part about Mosley looking bad fighting Mayorga. Mayorga's style does that to all fighters. I went by your statement. Tomorrow, Kirkland gets stopped. The future, if he improves like many are saying, he still loses by decision unless Mosley gets old overnight.

Destroys him?? Like I said a win is possible if by decision, but saying destroys him is a bit too much.

Put your money on the young cat if you want - watch you lose it.

Mosley would bring too much experience and smarts into the ring - can't see Kirkland doing much with him. The Love Child landed some pretty good shots - if Shane lands the same kind of shots - Kirkland goes down.

Your right, but it would look good for the kid and make him more marketable. Mosley aside, I am just saying Kirkland needs fights like a Mayorga to move him up at a good pace. ****, I thought he pulled out of the Kirkland fight and it was Angulo. Also, I agree with your statement of Kirkland looking better against Mayorga then Mosley.

He also brings in age along with wear and tear against a big, young hungry, strong fighter in Kirkland. Mosley just likes to stand and trade too dam much. His pride always gets in the way when he can win fights much easier.
