Mayweather is so confident about this fight he has come out to boxing scribes and told them that he has a hand problem, is no longer truly motivated to box and that for all he knows this will be his last fight. For me, this is the real factor to the fight, who is on top of the mental game. Mayweather already knows he will win, beyond the sense of an unbeaten fighter who has not tasted defeat, he knows he has too much of what he has to ever taste defeat at the hands of Hatton. Mosley in his pre-fight transcript revealed to me what I needed to know about this fight. Does Mosley believe, beyond a doubt, that he will dominate this fight? Well I didn't know, but now I have found out, and Mosley has essentially stated, that he doesn't know whether he will win or lose, but he thinks he will do his best either way. Against a young hungry fighter such as Cotto, it is not sufficient to come into the fight, thinking, either way the decision goes, I will know I have done my best. It would take the hungry, hard hitting, convicted Mosley of his earlier career to secure this viictory, and I fiirmy believe that a prime welterweight Mosley has all the tools to school the current Cotto. But the fact is, we are witnessing a fighter who has come down in weight for this fight, a fighter whom has wateched his better years pass him by, tasted defeat and is no longer capable of raising himself to the physical excellence, speed and power included, neccesary to raise himself to quite Cotto's level. But I'm proud of him for taking this challenge, knowing what he faces and his odds, and at least, giving himself a chance.
Very true. Sometimes the seed of doubt motivates a fighter to train harder and gives the fighter more focus and intensity on fight night. While over confidence breeds complacency.
I'll be looking for you to revise what you wrote about Mosley on Nov. 11th. A simple "I was wrong - and now believe!" will do. Mosley by UD in a good fight.
Im hoping your predictions are wrong. I think cotto is slow & overrated & mayweather is just a *****. Ive never bothered with mosely either way but I quite like hatton. :good
I think it would be a HUGE upset if Hatton beat PBF, but I'll still be rooting for him! Cotto-Mosely is a whole different game. If sugar Shane could roll back the clock a few years, and peel away the effects of a few wars, I'd pick him to beat Cotto everytime. However, father time is even more relentless than Miguel Cotto! As it stands I ain't predicting anything on this one! Boo
Mayweather UD I think... between Mosley and Cotto I just dont know... I can see it going different ways... I hope Mosley wins but im not confident at all. I cant wait for another week, Ive got a keg, just waiting for the fight.
I'd really like to see a poll here on ESB for Mosley/Cotto, this is a ****ing hard fight to predict for me and I'm leaning towards Mosley simply because he's one of my favorite fighters all-time and I believe he has what it takes to beat Cotto. However, Cotto's power is insane and I want to see how will Mosley handle that.
