You had a sold out crowd, celebs, big name fighters, it wasn't PPV, and HBO put on a decent show. Was this one of the best boxing promotions we've seen recently? I think they hit a real sweet spot with this one.
The undercard was apparently less than stellar, and there was excessive fighting and skirmishes in the crowd at the Staples Center, but other than that it was quite excellent. Also keep in mind the tickets were dirt cheap, some as little as $25. They keep doing that, and we'll see alot more sold out arenas. Jim Lampley said there were no less than 500 well known faces in the audience that night, the kind of people most of us would instantly recognize. That, must have been something to see.
