Completely true. If Cotto would have done this in his fight like Shane had, we might had seen a different result.

Oh, it's definately an open case. That said however it should be duly noted that Mosley has confirmed that Margarito possesses excessive power even without "concrete" in his gloves. It's one point at a time here. You're dropping the reminder over this revelation like a pollutant.

What's also not known, is whether or not Margarito "loaded" his gloves with something primarily designed to protect his hands. Mosley himself said that was his theory. I'm inclined to be more suspicious than that. The commission will have the final say obviously.

well im saying Mosley didn't feel the power as much as say Miguel Cotto since he wasn't hit as many times

and why is it so "telling" that Mosley's saying Margarito has power?

you'd have a hard time trying to convince people on the board here that Margarito is feather fisted.

so yes Mosley confirms Marg hits hard and certainly has power, so if Margarito were to use the Plaster of Paris (hypothetically) imagine how much harder Tony could crack.

**and if the LATIMES article I read on the topic, that mentioned a plaster of Paris like substance being found in the hand wraps, that actually had hard flakes coming off it.

I would imagine the substance would not only protect the fighters hands, but make them able to punch with more power (think like how a cast would protect you from damage)

still though I wonder if there's a way to find out if Marg's ever done the "loaded gloves" in previous fights.

Well, there are three immediate possibilities that spring to mind: If he's done it before, each and every observer sent in to watch the wraps being applied by his opponent's camp has been either: A) Extraordinarly unknowledgeable about the process and therefore should never work in boxing again. B) In on it with Margarito and his team. C) It has not happened prior to now.

I'm inclined to think C is the most realistic at this stage.

Do we know that he was using this stuff? I don't think we do, and yet that's being said here. Anyway, the point you make about Mosley not being hit very much is a bit counteractive. Mosley is saying pretty clearly that individual punches and combinations from Margarito had the effect of stunning him. That's surprising.

Obviously Margarito's power is greater if he's using a cast - let's say he used it in the Cotto fight on top of this "great power." It seems questionable to me that a guy with the durability issues of Miguel Cotto could take that kind of damage with a cast behind it for 11 grueling rounds.

Zab Judah was rocking Cotto harder on individual strikes. Paulie Malignaggi briefly stunned Cotto, FFS. Remember the Dempsey and Willard situation? When you use that **** people get ****ed up beyond belief. We have to seriously think about this for a second.. If Margarito can hit as hard as Mosley says and he was wearing a cast all these years there would be alot more than just Sebastian Lujan's ear missing. Yeah?

Good posts these. I don't like the way most in here have jumped on "brick gloves" as being factual before the facts are even known.

Mosley said that Margarito has some power? He has to say something to tell fans he was in a fight. He is very kind of other fighters. Cotto's face is proof of some serious power or alleged loaded gloves. Even when mention about the alleged loaded gloves to Mosley and his answer is that it must be some type of misunderstanding. I believe he wants to go down as the man who beat and knocked out the fearless fighter who beat Cotto and others not the fighter that was a alleged cheat. Beyond belief, Cotto took a serious ass whopping and was possibly thinking "what the **** else do I have to do to beat this guy". We will know in the rematch if Margarito does not get suspended if he is found guilty of loaded gloves. What makes anyone think that he did not use loaded gloves in the past if he got caught in the Mosley fight. This is a fight he was suppose to win by many so why do posters think he would not use something for a fighter that was undefeated and more dangerous at the time?

True, but praising the power of a vanquished opponent is a good way of making you look even more heroic and your victory more impressive.
Its not a humble thing to paint your beaten foe as highly formidable;it makes you look even better......"that guy i just beat?yep,he's a killer"....is a great image to portray.
Not a dig at Shane, just a pointer on fighter psychology.
If i beat a guy,i would want people to view them as King Kong too.

Whatever Shane he was punching your face. I am sure he stunned you a tad. But , as I was watching the fight , you only looked physically shaken one time. And even then you decided to suck it up and continue your assault .

You are the better man. Like a few other fighters...

Mosley clinched but stop trying to make it like he pulled a Ruiz or a Holy vs Tyson here, there wasn't much more than what you would get from the average fight, Fraudgarito got destroyed and is simply grasping at straws.

Cotto said he would never clinch. This shows he lets his machismo overshadow boxing intellect. And for that he would've always loss.

Exactly. He didn't clinch like people are making it seem. In any case he worked out of the clinch.
